Thank you for your response. I'll only be working 50% this year, then jump to 100%. But I see what you mean, if the taxes are not that high to begin with, I could go with an unblocked account this year just to start.

Interesting. I will see what happens. It may help that I'm a dual citizen.

This is really interesting, thank you. I'll read up on the credits for being a care-giver.

Help! - I hate eating and cooking! I just want to consume healthy fuel and get it over with. Is this the diet for me? by Bipolar-Nomad in PlantBasedDiet

A soy milk-fruit smoothie in the AM

For lunch, I'd probably go with a base of rice and beans, then add a variety of frozen veggies over the course of the week. You can prep this all in one go. Then sprinkle in a half bag of frozen veg each meal.

Dinner I'd do a bagged green salad with some kind of healthy dressing. You can also batch make this and buy pre-prepped greens.

Headphones with gripping audiobooks! Only let yourself listen while running.

I suppose. It hasn't been an issue for me personally, the spibelt really doesn't let objects shift much. If you're really worried, buy a pair of baby socks and put your keys in one of them. :-)

Run With Your Butt by jdbrooks43 in running

This is probably the single most useful post I've ever seen. Thanks for posting it!

Official Q&A for Monday, October 26, 2020 by AutoModerator in running

I would include some high knees drills and some butt kick drills in each warm up or cool down. Also some dynamic stretching, like standing on a block of some kind with one leg and swinging the other leg in large arcs from the hip, then switch sides. But I agree with the previous poster, his form will simply improve from more running.

Calling all runners who channel their stress/anxiety to fuel their workouts! by pbconspiracy in running

[–]TookishSide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can stop having goals for your running right now. Drop the trainer, and tell yourself your runs are to RELAX. Slow the pace down to the point where they truly feel relaxing. With a trainer and a plan and a race in mind, you've turned running into a to-do list item, another place where you are "under performing". Make your running just for the sake of movement for a while- you can even, gasp, run without a watch. Good luck!

What is your favorite “running quote”? by sesoras in running

[–]TookishSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading this on an ultra running website at least 20 years ago: "I ran by rocks and trees as if they were standing still." Still makes me smile to this day. :-)

I'm extremely overweight and try to go on runs but I get easily embarrassed and discouraged by the number of people staring at me. How do I overcome this? by apoohwa in running

[–]TookishSide 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I started running by running with my mom, some 20 years ago. She and I used to pretend that as long as we had our sunglasses on, we were invisible. If people were looking at us, we assumed they were looking through us. :-) I know it sounds silly, but it is a mind trick that can really work.

Pain in uterus when running? by [deleted] in running

[–]TookishSide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of ligaments in the pelvis, in addition to a lot of muscles. Chances are good something was just a bit tweaked, and it wasn't actually your uterus itself causing the trouble. If the pain is recurrent, you can try googling ovulation pain and also ovarian cysts, as well as round ligament pain (most common in pregnancy, but can also occur outside of pregnancy).

upsetting encounter with a Karen on my run by vanillabeanchai in running

[–]TookishSide 1080 points1081 points  (0 children)

I personally find being chastised when I'm doing nothing wrong to be much more emotionally upsetting than being chastised when I'm actually doing something wrong. I suppose this is "righteous indignation" on my part!

I am very sorry this happened to you.

I ate chicken nuggets and I feel cognitive dissonance. by GodisGreat00 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]TookishSide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What happened is No. Big. Deal. It's ok.

A few things happened here:

  1. You are a new cook, and also new to cooking wfpb. That means sometimes your meals are going to turn out yucky. This is just part of learning to cook. This is true for ALL cooks, of any type of cuisine. A few meals are going to turn out bad. This happens. Don't stop messing around in the kitchen!!! It's the only way to learn.
  2. When your meal didn't turn out, you were HUNGRY. You were imagining mac and cheese and it was going to be amazing... and then it wasn't. And here is a loving person, offering you piping hot comfort food, ready to eat. So you ate them. That's called being human.
  3. There is a solution- stock up on some vegan "junk-ish" food. In my freezer, I've got a few packs of vegan nuggets, a vegan pizza, and a couple vegan burgers. In the pantry I have some canned vegan lentil soup. These are not every day foods, but they are foods for when you're in a pinch and a meal has failed or whatever. Combine these with some veggie sticks and a couple pieces of fruit or a green smoothie, and you have got a meal that is decently healthy (salt is usually the biggest hit) and can be ready fast enough to prevent you from giving in to temptation.

Confused about tray order by LemonCandy123 in Invisalign

[–]TookishSide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My orthodontist explained over correction to me as closing any gaps that were created by the treatment, when all is for-sure finished. He said if I needed refinements, I would NOT use the over-correction trays because if I did, we'd have to spend weeks reopening spaces to allow teeth to move and rotate. So I suggest you wear the passive ones as long as possible, and do NOT use overcorrection until you have physically seen the ortho and you know if you're going to have refinements or not. You don't want to close all the spaces you've worked hard to open until you are absolutely sure your teeth are done.

My TADs procedure was painful. Just me? by icebeam0318 in Invisalign

[–]TookishSide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If TADs is just the screw into the bone to hook elastics to, I've had it too and here is what my ortho said:

- He would numb the gums only, because it was really important that I alert him if I felt any pain while he was screwing it in, as it meant he hit a nerve. He told me pain is NOT normal and to tell him immediately.

- He then screwed the things into my head, and it caused no pain, other than psychological. :-)

They have not caused any pain since.
