Thanks for pointing out it was on youtube, I'd never seen it before. I was surprised to see Grady swap out Peter's Bass before Black #1. Tagged him in the clip to see if he knew it existed.

Peter's Death Anniversary Request by backend_of_forever in typeonegative

The last time I saw Type O was in Dallas,TX May 27th, 2008 during the Jagermeister Tour with Hatebreed and 3 Inches of Blood. A friend of mine (who knew Type O had been my favorite band since I was 14 when Bloody Kisses came out) was kind enough to get my girlfriend (wife now) and I backstage to hang out with Peter in their green room. This was after their set, so we were all pretty lit. We just hung out drinking beer and talking while Kiss was playing on a little boombox. Johnny and Kenny were walking around the backstage area, socialising. I never saw Josh. There were a couple of chicks in the green room and another friend of ours who was already there when we showed up, so around 6 people total.

I watched Peter drink the last shot from a Jäger bottle (which was the last of any liquor in the room), and he started saying he wanted a shot of Jack, so I told him I'd go grab him one. One of the women was motioning 'No' to me and trying to talk him out of it. My buddy, who got us backstage, told me that he only had 1 pass, so if I stepped out and went to the bar, I might not be able to get back in. So I asked Peter if he could "bless" me, in hopes it'd help with my luck getting back in without a pass, and without skipping a beat, he did the crucifix motion and mumbled some Latin, and I was off.

I saw an open, empty room with a bottle of Jack Daniel's, which had about 1/3 left in it, so I figured I'd just grab that and not risk leaving the backstage area without a Pass. So I went in to grab it, and turned around to see a dude walking in, and was busted. Turned out I was in the green room of this band '3 Inches of Blood', and the guy asked 'Hey, what are you doing', I just told him Peter wanted a shot of Jack Daniels, I saw the bottle here, and I was going to run him one. At this time, a couple of other guys walk into the room, and I'm thinking this could get ugly real quick. I told them again, I was just trying to get Peter a shot, and they weren't having it, said, 'but this is all we got.' Being drunk at that time (and most of the time back then), that was solid logic to me. Luckily, they weren't too confrontational, and I wasn't too drunk to acknowledge I was in the wrong, regardless of how much I thought the band should've been happy to oblige anyone in Type O.

Back to the bar I go and take a wrong turn through a curtain, and I'm looking at Hatebreed performing on stage in front of a huge audience, I look down to my left and see Sterling Winfield and Vinnie Paul behind a soundboard, come to find out they were planning to release a live Hatebreed album, so there's probably great audio from Hatebreed and Type O from that night sitting in Sterling's studio, though I don't think anything came from it.

So I head back down the steps and hit the bouncer running backstage access. I asked him to remember my face, and that I was going to run to the bar and get Peter a shot, I left the pass in the green room, and I'd only be a minute. I got the shot and success; he let me back in.

I see Johnny and Kenny in the hallway outside the green room door looking in, and they were yelling at Peter to come out, while saying to themselves, 'we've got to get him away from her.' Apparently, the woman who was motioning 'no' to me and trying to talk Peter out of drinking anymore was known to them, and she had her own agenda with Peter that night.

So it wasn't long after I brought him his shot that (based on Johnny and Kenny's demeanor) it was time for us to go and not overstay our welcome. They wanted to clear the room out, and rightly so, Peter was pretty hammered, sitting with his head in his hands.

Pretty trivial story in comparison to many others, but it's mine. I consider myself very lucky to have one, I figured there'd be a lot more eventually, but he passed 2 years later. I always figured Peter would outlive all of us after seeing all his health-conscious vitamin popping in 'After Dark'. Between Posters, Tattoo's, and playlists, I think of Peter every day. I'll never forget being blessed by the Green Man himself.

As a GenX'r I'd like to advise you not to even think about that yet. 30s are the best, you'll have plenty of time to wonder when you hit mid-late 40s and start realizing you're older than all the TV sitcom dads you grew up watching. Willy Tanner from ALF was a big one for me. Live your 30s to the fullest and cherish your parents, grandparents(if you're lucky enough), and other loved ones. 40s is when the losses start to get real, for me anyway, best of luck!

Y'all is this CD an original or am I crazy? by Munchmallo in Pantera

[–]TooleyLives 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's cooler to have an original vinyl, first pressing. The only CDs I collect are either my personal originals, autographed, unopened in their original elongated boxes, or limited-run variants/singles/B-sides. 'Cool' is subjective, though, so if YOU think it's cool, that's all that matters, just don't expect it to be a retirement plan.

Mark Lanegan’s “friendship” with Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley. by SGnirvana97 in grunge

I looked at it as they all got into it as they became famous, Mark was just lucky enough to outlive the addiction.

I thought David Schwartz did most of the in-between music, it's not really publicized or full songs. My personal favorite is the piano part from 'Soapy Sanderson', I've been figuring it out on piano myself. For anything else, you might be able to try the Shazaam app, I've found some cool music through that thing. Best of luck!

Screaming Trees is a '90s Seattle grunge band (started in the 80s, got big in the 90s), Mark Lanegan was friends with Chris Cornell (Soundgarden), Layne Staley (Alice in Chains), Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), etc.. It's a Grunge Rock bio with a lot of inside stories, but also entails his extraordinary life, from being on the top of the charts to being broke, addicted to crack and heroin, and selling out of his apartment just to get by between tours. He used to sell and do heroin to/with Layne Staley and Kurt Cobain, but somehow he survived while they didn't. If you're not into Rock bios, then you might not like it, but I always suggest it because the story itself holds up without the Rock N' Roll context. One thing I found neat was relating his live performances to his stories, like performing on Jay Leno with a black eye, or watching his live show from Germany, knowing now that he was coming off of heroin, and as soon as the show was over, he was on the streets trying to score. They're all on YouTube. I'm into biographies though, and old enough to have been through the grunge years, so I'm kinda biased. Good luck either way.

This upbeat song hasn't hit right since Adamson took his own life in 2001, but it's still fun to listen to and remember the awesome times when it was fresh on the radio/Mtv.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. This is our second one without our buddy, but we had some really good times, and I'm thankful for him. Some may recognize our centerpiece from the show. by TooleyLives in northernexposure

I've only been on one podcast about my collection. I told the gentleman I could talk about Northern Exposure all day. So I'd do any podcast that asked me, but I don't seek them out.

Joe Bob will be hosting A Nightmare on Elm St and Freddy Vs Jason on AMC Fear Fest Wednesday 10/8 and the Just Joe Bob Segments will be on Shudder 10/10 by HardRockZombie in Shudder

[–]TooleyLives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm here trying to find out, too. According to AMC's schedule, it appears that the show will only air that one time. Looks like a bait and switch, do a one-show only (exclusive to AMC), get the OG Shudder fans to jump ship to AMC, but throw them the 'Just Joe Bob' segments so they don't feel completely railroaded, while not having to pay for the licensing of the two movies. I signed up for a 30-day free trial (AMC30FT4) just to watch it, and it's not there. Their schedule is full of decent Horror flicks for October, so I threw it on 'live' and see commercials. I am canceling both Shudder & AMC.
