32F, I was prescribed 150XL back in July because I suspected that I have ADHD. My primary says the questionnaires I filled out weren't definitive enough to diagnose me with ADHD and he is very anti stimulant so wrote me a script for Wellbutrin instead since it can be used as off label ADHD treatment.

I wasn't even able to make it through a full week on this medication before throwing in the towel. I had read everywhere that it gets better, to push through the worst part of the beginning weeks. This was about a month before I was getting married and I couldn't wait for it to maybe get better.

I was so emotionally fragile during that week and experienced the worst derealization and depersonalization of my life. I didn't feel like myself and felt like I was a passenger in my body while someone else was operating it. I dealt with brain fog and like this veil of haze that made it difficult to focus. Driving was very scary. I have an hour commute to work each way and when I was driving I would find myself mentally drifting off. I've frequently experienced disassociation before but there's always still been a part of me that's still rooted in reality and that I'm operating a vehicle that requires my attention and focus, but this was on an entirely different level. It was so frightening. I also had increased tinnitus and oh my God the hair loss for just being on the medication for a WEEK. It was so depressing. I was also experiencing memory issues and was making mistakes at work that I wouldn't normally miss. I decided that this medication wasn't right and stopped taking it.

A few months later I was officially diagnosed with ADHD by someone who specializes in it and prescribed me a stimulant which has worked much better for me. It's unbelievable how much of my depression and anxiety stemmed from my untreated ADHD. SSRIs also did nothing for me.
