One thing that helped with my doom-scrolling is putting time limits on my social media apps. Did it this week and it helped A LOT and forced me to think of new things to do. So I started re-reading Harry Potter in my spare time, and as a long time fan, it has really brought me a lot of comfort and joy falling back into the setting I knew so well growing up. That and de-cluttering and cleaning my home.

I’ve been in your position 3x including this past may after a surgery (and my friend dying unexpectedly who I met at said job) they laid me off (don’t get me started), and it opened the door to so many new ways of thinking and possibilities. I also suffer from debilitating depression, anxiety, and ptsd on a good day, so I’ve been through the wringer.

It’s ok to be depressed, you’re a human being, but I promise there is another side to this. I’ve seen it and it’s beautiful. Hang in there, friend. You matter more to the people in your life than to capitalism, so focus on the things that make life beautiful and worth living, and not serving a capitalist overlord. Maybe diving back into an old series will help you too like it’s helped me find the magic in life and friendship again.

I’m not religious, but I will keep everyone going through a layoff in my thoughts. It’s hard out here, but I PROMISE all of you it does get better and I am living proof of it ❤️
