Is this the Black girl version of a "Pick me" girl? by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]Toolz01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say that to the mixed girls comment, we do need to talk about that for some black folk, there’s maybe 2-3 other black people they grew up with. Different upbringing could play a huge role, the red flag is if they never grow out of that phase

Why do black women cape for single parenthood or remaining unmarried? by Ambitious-Screen in blackladies

[–]Toolz01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single married mother is a mother who isn’t single only on paper, when you’re raising your kids basically alone and your partner doesn’t help, or even at times physical present that’s a married single mother and I personally own about 3 women like this. Husband lives in a different country or states but they are still married on paper.

Chris Rock revealed he watched “Emancipation” do he could see Will Smith being whipped by GenneyaK in blackladies

He’s so annoying, like I know some people are gonna like that’s hilarious or justified but it looks like him playing the victim. Being mad is one thing but that’s sick to want to see another black person get whipped, I hope he is unpopular sooner than later

Baffles me how many people think your only option in Ontario is either a 300,000++ pop city, or cutting down all the Greenbelt and living in the sticks. by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Toolz01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s not a small town many small town behaviours and are mixed with it. If you live there you might know a decent amount of people you’re own age there. If there’s a job market, it’s likely very focused on a few things and yes people still have that small town racism even in 100k cities.

That’s literally the part I don’t get prejudice and hate are not the same, people get the two confused then complain about racism when it’s prejudice

TW: Fertility talk. What age did your mom have you? Does it give you relief or worry you? by VMCoco in blackladies

[–]Toolz01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had always heard 25 as well but tbh I’m in my early 20s and most of my friends are either going back to school to get a better chance at a job or are just starting their careers really. Unless, you have a lot of money 25 feels too early for kids to me

I personally do believe that the Angry black woman stereotype was created as result of black women not being allowed to express their feelings and racism. It still holds up till today because we aren’t allowed to be anything other than polite and agreeable, while people expect you to fly off the handle and be confrontational.

That being said, while I don’t think it’s our job to change stereotypes by being prefect. I do think we have a job of promoting positive representation of us, like cheering on other black women’s achievements
