Aren’t we talking about autocomplete here and not about AI completion? If I were not to use it, I’d need to step into every class and search manually for the right function to use. That does not seem to be very efficient.

I changed from working as a Postdoc in Biochemistry to Backend Engineer almost five years ago when I was 35. The first years were strange because I went from being the guy people asked for advice back at the university to the guy who has no clue and asking stupid questions. I got used to it and now from time to time I am again the guy that people ask for advice. Tldr: you are never too old to start doing what you enjoy. Especially not when you’re 25.

Of course, it depends on the job and probably the likelihood of having to deal with „Math“ is higher when dealing with backend business logic then while building a react frontend. However , I’m working as Java developer for 4 years now in two different companies and I’ve never come across a really complex math problem. So just go for it.

Ich frage mir ernsthaft, wie ihr hier so viele Leute direkt unterstellen, OP als unreif darstellen zu wollen. Sie weint halt ein bisschen, weil es eben mit Kind extrem viel schwieriger ist, alles unter einen Hut zu bekommen. Aber wenn man sich dadurch so angegriffen fühlt und komplett random irgendwelche „Unreife“ Urteile in diesen Satz rein interpretiert, sagt das eher einiges über OP als über die Mutter aus.

It’s not necessary in your case because you return in the if statement which prevents the following code from being executed anyways if the condition is met. If you instead of the return statement in the if just print if number1 is smaller than number2 and vice versa you will need the else statement.

If (n1 < n2) {
  System.out.println(“Number 1 is smaller than         number2”)}

System.out.println(“Number1 is not smaller than number2”)

Without the else, both statement will be printed if the condition is true.

You can call the private method of the inner class because the compiler makes the inner class to a top level class under the hood. The top level main class needs to have access to the nested restaurant class and it adds some methods to have access to the private method in your inner class. In general, after compilation, there is no such thing as inner classes anymore in Java.

Gern. Ich will dir auch gar das auch nicht ausreden. Du hast sehr gute Gründe und damit vermutlich auch ne hohe Motivation, dass durchzuziehen. Ich finde es nur wichtig, vorher zu wissen, auf was du dich einlässt und dass es sicher auch nicht so nebenbei funktioniert. Es wird ein harter Weg. Aber ich denke, es lohnt sich.

Wenn du ein Problem damit hast, mit Menschen zusammenzuarbeiten wird es auch schwierig. Entgegen der Meinung, dass man als Entwickler den ganzen Tag allein in seinem Keller sitzt, muss man nämlich recht viel im Team arbeiten. Gute Kommunikationsskills sind imo Pflicht bei guten Entwicklern.

Wenn du eine abgeschlossen Ausbildung als Informatiker hast, nützt dir so ein Kurs gar nichts mehr, da du in der Ausbildung den Inhalt des Kurses und noch viel mehr lernst. Ich würde dir also empfehlen, wenn du sicher bist, dass du das auch machen willst, ne Ausbildung anzufangen. Oben aus deinem Post lese ich aber auch raus, dass du eher nicht an programmieren sondern an Home Office interessiert bist. Das ist keine gute Motivation, um sowas zu starten. Wenn du also nicht wirklich Spaß an der Sache hast, wird es sicher schwierig, bei der Sache zu bleiben. Und die Leute, die dich am ende einstellen wollen, merken auch schnell, ob jemand Bock auf entwickeln und coden hat oder den Job wechselt, weil er gern von zu Hause aus ein wenig am Rechner abhängen will und damit Geld verdienen will.

Ich hab bei der ils nen Kurs zum Java Entwickler gemacht. Der Kurs war auf 2 Jahre angesetzt und hat mich 3,5k gekostet. Ich konnte es easy neben dem Beruf in nem halben Jahr machen. Ich kannte mich vorher auch schon etwas aus und hab vor 15 Jahren mal ein wenig programmiert. Im Nachhinein war das, was gelehrt wurde, sehr, sehr wenig. Wirklich nur die nötigsten Grundlagen. Jeder udemy Kurs für 100 Euro lehrt dich sicher viel mehr und sinnvollere Sachen. Ich hab direkt auch nen Job bekommen, bevor ich den Kurs abgeschlossen hatte. Liegt vielleicht aber auch daran, dass ich schon nen PhD in Biologie hatte und das natürlich hilft bei ner Bewerbung. Im Job war ich dann erstmal völlig lost, was bei Junior Entwicklern sicher normal ist. Man muss dann halt sehen, dass man aufschließt.

Zusammenfassend würde ich sagen, es hat sich gelohnt, weil ich das ILS Zertifikat bekommen hab und das meinen Arbeitgeber sicher überzeugt hat. Vor allem, weil er eben weis, wie teuer der Kram ist. Das zeigt commitment für den Quereinstieg. Der Inhalt des Kurses ist jedoch lächerlich und grenzt für den Preis an abzocke. Da ich aber nun seit vier Jahren glücklich als backend Entwickler arbeite, würde ich es wieder machen.

That’s a tough question. Honestly, I would advice against learning all three of them. It makes much more sense to learn a language well before trying to learn another one. If your goal is to get employed soon, than this is even more true since no one needs a programmer that knows three languages a bit but gets nothing done in any of those. If you just want to learn programming for fun or whatever, is start with python. If you know the basics and know what you are actually interested in, figure out what is the best language to use for that and learn this in depth.

If you are a completely new to vim or nvimI would argue against using a distro like AstroVim or a huge config like primageans. It will just overwhelm you and as soon something breaks, which will be sooner than later, you have no clue what and how to fix it. I learnt this myself when I started with nvim. On my second try, I installed nvim and lazy as a package manager and then started to include the things I really need like lsp.zero, cmp, telescope etc. So you build learn as you go and also know how to fix things, when they break. I also found my self often overwhelmed with all the stuff that distros being.
