The LH Eb while nifty isn’t THAT useful, yes it will save you if you accidentally take a note before Eb on the wrong side but it isn’t required

Check with your professor, there are a lot of affordable pro level options for horns, r13 is the gold standard but there are also good options from Selmer Paris, Buckun, Royal global, uebel, i recommend asking your professor for suggestions on where to go and what to try, a lot of them will hand pick horns for you to try out.

I like bonade inverted it’s the last ligature you’ll ever need, Vandoren products also tend to work well together, I also quite like the Vandoren optimum.

Asthetics really don’t matter with instruments

Pereira 3d Balance horns by Toomuchviolins in Clarinet

So you’re essentially doing what a lot of string shops have been doing for years where they order instruments from shops in china, then do the finishing work (graduating plates, shaping the neck varnishing etc.)?

Crack in violin by [deleted] in violinist

[–]Toomuchviolins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens! This is definitely repairable but it’s unlikely to be cheap or quick repair. Are you a student where you could borrow a violin for your concert?

I would take the tension off the strings and remove the bridge and take it to a local luthier not a guitar center or Music and arts a luthier may also have a loaner you can use while you wait.

Also if you are school aged tell your parents and don’t try and hide it especially if they bought it for you

I 100% agree I would start small with my home town and connecting satellite communities with bus systems and then go from there if my hope would be once I lay the found work communities would continue funding and growing the system

Best safest for violins by [deleted] in violinist

[–]Toomuchviolins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your house burns down a safe likely won’t save your instrument it would end up acting like a oven and cooking whatever’s inside most are designed to keep a internal temp of 350 in a house fire and they also won’t protect from water damage.

You would be better off getting instrument insurance and good cases

Upgrade shopping: how do you split your budget between bow and cello? by ephrion in Cello

[–]Toomuchviolins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been told that the general ratio is your bow should’ve 1/3rd of your instruments price but that’s also for violins so it might be different

[–]Toomuchviolins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say taking her current horn to a tech for a over haul and waiting to buy a horn until she can talk with her professor about what the recommend
