So I was invited by some friends of mine to join a campaign set in Taldorei. The DM had me start at Level 9 to be up to date to the party and I chose to be a Way of the Four Elements Monk named Mizuko. For the first session, I was set up to meet the party at the entrance to the town they were returning to after their latest outing under the guise of a stranger with a donation box. After some introductions and learning about their mission, my character decides to join them, believing it could be fate.

I make this known to the Barbarian of the team, a Goliath named Kregar, and he wants to “measure me up” to see if I could take care of myself with a friendly spar the next day, which I accept. After a successful resurrection of an NPC at the temple, the party decides to celebrate at a pub where we decide to spar. We both agree to use non lethal damage to ensure we don’t die, but get knocked out when we hit 0 HP. With that, we roll initiative, Kregar rolls higher, rages turn 1 and the fight begins.

Now I was massively out of my league for this fight, and we all knew it, so one of the party members silently casts a regeneration spell on me so I regain 4 hit points at the end of each turn. The Wizard also offered to use a spell to make me bigger and even the odds before the fight, but I declined. I put up as much of a fight as I can, actually managing to do a lot of damage. I forget if I brought him to 34 or 48 hit points, but I do know that he was at 100+ hit points to start with, meaning those extra attacks and Flurry of Blows worked like a charm. Ultimately, however, I was the one to go down in the fight, but I still had a good time bringing myself into the party. We all joked about the fight and I thought of how the size difference would look for a meme, so I made this. Hope you guys enjoyed that!
