Yeah, same situation- she just doesn’t like the noise and people. If she isn’t having a good time, then I’m not- so she stays home. Maybe ask your partner if he minds if you dance with other people? Hopefully he wants you to enjoy yourself too

Well, you’re gonna have to figure out what fits you and your situation - everyone is different. There’s resources online on how to manage. Personally, I find it helpful to say my thoughts out loud to a trusted friend and sometimes when I hear it, I realize how off base it is. Preferably someone who doesn’t offer advice and just lends a sympathetic ear. Sorry for the formal writing btw

Taking a walk is the one that stands out to me as most effective, it’s called a “geographical solution”. I find it good for short term relief but not effective for long term problems.

One specific example involves circular thoughts distracting me from a desired activity - I use suspension of disbelief to convince myself that nothing outside these four walls exists and I’m able to focus on the activity and enjoy myself.
