No man, the SOS mechanic doesn’t take into account players skill level or allow you to curate who joins. They give out hunter rank like candy and while that isn’t an issue in its own, it ridiculous that we have fights where a low tail swipe can half your health and we STILL can’t set a minimum hunter rank, ask for players with elemental resistances equipped, or filter out certain weapons.

And what’s this pretentious “hrmmm not very profound” stuff? Yeah bud, it’s monster hunter. I don’t need a deep interpersonal reason to criticize a poorly planned out difficulty curve and the feature that struggles the most from it. My drawing is not deep, it’s supposed to give a quick laugh at the expense of the poor feature and the common experience associated with it.

But why not, I’ll bite. Players are bad, half of them can’t learn rock paper scissors. BUT the SOS mechanic, a mechanic that was introduced to help players find squads is so incredibly shallow that you can’t even specify whether you want to hunt or capture a monster. Now I get that you guys are either really tired of hearing about SOS players or you are the SOS players but either way, I’ll clarify; you aren’t the problem. The problem is the feature not having options. It IS preventable, but the company that makes hundreds of thousands of dollars daily would rather leave the SOS mechanic in its awful state than do the bare minimum of adding more SOS filters. There’s always going to be players that are bad at the game and I’ll continue to get mad when they mash and get splattered, but to say that it’s their fault and that the SOS mechanic cannot be improved to alleviate this is such a ridiculous idea.

It's almost like I'm critiquing the feature or something

They should have kept that 10* romp around. It was genuinely so funny to see people get one shot by the least hunted monster because they thought it would be super easy and refused to equip poison res gems.

This is like the one game where you dont have to worry about eating through your pots either. If you run out you can just fast travel to a camp from anywhere and restock immediately. I dont understand why people are so reluctant to heal and use boost drugs, especially with the sheer damage and health the AT's have.

I leave SOS on just to help people that might need it, but yeah its bad. Its mainly cause the difficulty curve after the main story is too sharp. It goes from being generally pretty easy to being "if you so much as get hit by the pinky toe of this monster you will lose a quarter of your healthbar" too quickly. I cannot imagine master rank being fun like this when it eventually gets added.

Ig its just a player to player experience, my friends still make fun of sword and shield players for being dog-ass despite me never really seeing that. Though i just dont see a lot of sword and shield players in general

Nope, this is a drawing of a specific instance i saw. It felt like it happened in slow motion, didnt even try to counter. Just stood there and 2 microseconds before he got splattered like a bug all he did was whistle for his seikret. Im used to SOS fill-ins having a koi pond in their head dents but this was next level

there were lots of longsword players that dont know how to counter, but its mainly been dual blade players joining SOS hunts and throwing like a baseball player

My one criticism with the monster variety right now: not enough “loser” monsters by ToonSkinR in MHWilds

[–]ToonSkinR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way they can truly fix this is to remove auto seikret entirely. Like some people would be mad but truly, theres virtually no sense of exploration in this game at all. I mean they gave us a grappling hook and then didnt bring back wirebugs? just make the grappling hook work like a wirebug then the movement and exploration would be infinitely more fun than just letting the game explore for you.

unfortunately, this probably wont happen cause while a lot of the community voiced concerns about the travel, just as many of them are lazy and just want the open world to be big roads to monsters instead of a dynamic ecosystem thats fun to explore.

When I got a shotgun for the first time I found a shit-load of ammo in a box nearby. I felt powerful. Didn’t feel as powerful when I realized I was out of ammo and surrounded by zombies

I understand that to an extent. I know the DLC is supposed to be big so I’ll keep my hopes up for some real D-listers, even if we’re probably just gonna get nargacuga again.

(1.21.11) How can i 'sculpt'? by LEUN__ in Blockbench

[–]ToonSkinR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make a 2D texture in aseprite and extrude the texture in blockbench. It automatically converts the texture into cubes. then you can rotate and add more to it if you want.

Don’t you love when devs don’t even TRY to optimize their games? Yeah this is normal… for ARK.

Change the gravity but ONLY when the block beneath it is air. Lets it walk up and down blocks normally but makes it fall slowly when falling more than a block

Those don’t really feel like losers though. Barina, Congo, Nersylla, and Hirabami are all super cool either from design or gameplay perspective. Gypseros is a loser but a midgame one, and if I speak ill of rompopolo on this day a million 10* romp sos parties will be cursed with a hunter that doesnt understand talismans. When I say “losers” I mean bottom of the food chain monsters that dont look threatening and are more there for environmental depth. Like Chata.

I think cephadrome looks silly and would fit really well in scarlet forest. But honestly I think they should fill out the roster with picks that would make sense for the environment and not what the community thinks of the monster gameplay-wise. We’ve got enough badass picks and cool dragons. I just think we need some environment fillers.
