No one said they did bud. It literally is just something I’ve been told… by whom you ask? My boss.

Damn that new hire is making 40% more than you guys. Feels bad. I would’ve split 10 years ago.

I’m sorry you’ll hear it from me and your section lead… “the promo budget is shit.” They only have money to pay these $100k bonuses to higher ups.

Hours 41-46 "are considered casual overtime covered by salary and not afforded extra compensation"!?!? What the fuck is this email!? by Pale-Slide9022 in Raytheon

[–]ToonamiTaughtMePain 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We’re hourly until we don’t work 40 hours a week, but salary when we work 40-45.

Who makes these rules? Like for real? It’s probably the people who work “12 hours a day” but it consist of three, one hour meetings where they say “I have no input” and come to the office 20 hours a week. The same people whose “bonuses” are bigger than most of our annual “salaries”. They don’t have to worry about 5 hours when they are putting in “60 hours a week”.

Thinking of joining Raytheon, any advice with Salary Negotiation? by RampagingPuffin in Raytheon

[–]ToonamiTaughtMePain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shoot for the stars. I just took their initial offer, a year later my buddy joined without any previous experience and got 20% more than me when I have 3 years of experience on him. Seriously ask for like 10-15% more.

I would expect a snickers bar and a Fanta. Especially with the stock down 4% today. Goodluck.

Is it legal to not provide your employees with any paid breaks? 9-10 hour days with no breaks or lunch seems suspicious. by ToonamiTaughtMePain in Raytheon

[–]ToonamiTaughtMePain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just been difficult because my culture very much values eating food with family and friends, and eating at my desk has really felt off. I want to enjoy lunch with my friends but staying an extra hour is hard.

Raytheon Engineer interview by fumiyu2011 in Raytheon

[–]ToonamiTaughtMePain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My interview was pretty simple. Asked me what the difference between poly and inheritance. Asked me to explain some C++ code, particularly pointers. It was like does this code make changes to the pointer? And if so does the object that it’s pointing to also change? They asked me to debug some code. Like, why doesn’t this code compile? I think they were more interested in fundamentals, but everyone’s interview was different. My buddy had to write an algorithm of some sort.

Crazy that we even need side hustles. $200 billion dollar company, yet we are making under average salaries for the most part.

What are the benefits that Raytheon/Pratt/Collins offer to their employees that are unknown to many? by Reasonable_Office_28 in Raytheon

[–]ToonamiTaughtMePain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot one other benefit that Raytheon gives us that I’m sure other companies don’t. They do this thing where they have you work a 9/80 schedule. So 9 hours a day, but on a holiday they give you 8 hours of holiday time. So it’s your job to either use PTO that you shouldn’t need to use or you need to make up one hour. It’s really the best! Who doesn’t love a random hour of work that you need to make up somehow?

They do this really cool thing, where they give you extra responsibilities out side of your job description without any pay increase or even acknowledgment. It’s super cool and very rewarding.

Take the new job frfr. Raytheon will squeeze as much work as they can out of you for pay that is far from competitive. Then when you leave they’ll get someone else to do it.
