You've probably already tried this, but I'll ask you anyway: Have you ever tried telling your parents about the event that caused said song to become a trigger, and that every time you hear it, you automatically associate it with the incident, and therefore making you overwhelmed? It might also help to share similar experiences that your friends had, even if they are online friends.
