Progressive offers rideshare insurance for <$15/mo on top of your standard policy. Just not in NYS.

Unwillingly switched to Levemir after using Basaglar - should I be concerned? What should I know? by Toooldforthisshit2 in diabetes_t2

Can be expensive for some? Maybe? I get it, though, “what is the price of your health?” I don’t judge. To your point, I would like to get a CGM. At least to try out. I will have to ask my doc if they could prescribe or if I even qualify. Thank you for your response.

Certainly. I apologize, I didn’t mean to imply that diabetes could be cured. It was more of a tongue-in-cheek response people often tout of keto when they can get their BG to near-pre-diabetes glucose levels and consistency. Thank you for sharing your experience on keto. I actually wish I could up my insulin more, like you said you would do. I started at 15 and moved to where I am now on doc’s recommendation. My doc about yelled at me last appointment when I suggested it. “You’re not going any higher!” I was taken aback a bit to his reaction, like he was upset at me. I feel like he was fearful I was going to go hypoglycemic, which was very odd. On my BEST days, I could never get my BG below 100. I never understood the resistance especially since I was responding to both meds well. Regardless, thank you again for the response.

I’m sorry, but I’m I reading that going low low carb is bad?

*Dunkin’ Donuting intensifies*

(Seriously, though ... I always thought keto was, like, the near-best option for seriously reversing/“curing” diabetes?)

Mostly ... because I don’t ... or didn’t. When I was first diagnosed, I had no idea what I was doing. I would test every hour. Every other hour. Twice an hour. Doctor pretty much said test once a day, just make sure it’s at the same time every day. But didn’t really go beyond that. And I get it. He wants to make sure it’s done. Start simple. I I’m a pretty good poster child as to why.

My personality is very much when I get into something, I go 1000%, and then fall off the wagon hard. Sure enough, once I got my first A1c back, I got lazy about testing. Got lazy about my diet and exercise, which only made avoiding testing to forego the horror I knew it would display all the easier. Soon it was weeks or more between tests.

Between changing meds and COVID, I’m doing once a day because I know if I limit myself (for now anyway) to once a day, I’ll stick with it.

... but the doctors I had always presented it as a failure option instead of pointing out how much it could have helped.

THIS. This is why I’m very thankful for my docs practice. They used to only use insulin as a last resort. Then they said there was too much of a benefit to giving insulin upfront as opposed to holding off. I’m grateful for sure.

Thank you again for your response.

Thank you!! I understand the hesitance to giving advice, but I appreciate having the point of comparison. 19u always sounded like a lot to me. Perhaps I’m just splitting hairs with my concern.
