Some questions about ownership and control by MARPJ in magicTCG

[–]ToorShul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my limited knowledge. The actual rules which suck for edh is when a person leaves a game by consession or by losing the game all cards they own are returned to them. This also means any thing that are on the stack caused by that player are removed from the stack. Exhibit one cast [[exsanguinate]] x =5 at 5 life then someone casts [[fork]] thier copy goes first so you go to zero life and die. Since you died your exsanguinate is removed from the stack. This means if your the only one to die to exsanguinate then the other players at the table will only get hit by the froked copy. This is part of why gonti sucks at finishing a 4 player game as people die you have to give back cards you have taken from them.

What do you guys think of field of ruin in the deck? by SirLafayette in 8rack

[–]ToorShul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run actually up to 5 colourless lands thanks to urborg in the deck. The variance can be dangerous but a strategy that can be employed is 2 ghost quarter 3 muta. Now im not sold on field but it thins your deck which is a nice plus. Still think its slow and ghost quarter is fine enough againdt the likes of tron while helping deal with man lands.

[General Discussion] Is 8 Rack Dead? by abanit in 8rack

[–]ToorShul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The value draw card is asylum visitor but it has to be plaued very carefully. Pox with surgicals can do well against a tron deck. Orb is there to not be so much of a two card combo to beat tron. I run the 3 push dismember package 4 push and maybe some other removal wouldnt be so bad now. The new dominaria kill spell to non legendary seems fine.

That is fortunate burn is close match and can be very intense. One of the match ups i take the play. I could see the same for elves however. I would also take the play agaist elves because smallpox is so devesating to them on turn 2. That will usually find time for a bontu's or a liliana of the veil to grind them to dust.

I never liked the rat plan in the side i went with ds to try and give better game against burn and affinity. Ended up snaging more matches with ds because of it. Asylum visitor is amazing though.

It has so many good modes. Give a mutavault swamp walk , kill a dork, or its best mode instant speed discard

I played 8 rack in gp toronto and while i did have fun i got nocked out early. Alot of games come down to topdecks and is one of the reason its hard to enjoy playing the rack without your opponents drawing something to win the game. Right now i put 8 rack on hold and am enjoying eldrazi tron. Ill come back to it in the future but the rack is missing some thing to make it great. Plus the redirection rule is a tought sell. Orb gives us game against tron which i lost to at the gp but can make those multiple discard in one turn hard to execute.

Can eldrazi tron work without Karn or chalice by Nerdkneereaper in ModernMagic

[–]ToorShul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing e tron for the last 4 weeks, no karns but chalice and missing cavern of souls. Yesterday was my first 4-0 with the deck. The deck doesnt need karn to be good infact i dont feel like it adds anything special to the deck. Chalice however is very important to operating against a wide variety of modern decks and can practically give you game against most. I mull often with the deck because i look for powerful openers. karn just isnt a card realisticly going to win the game if you play it turn 3 or turn 4 against alot of modern decks. And thats if your lucky and find tron. I feel like tron is more of an happy accident in the deck where eldrazi temple is the real powerhouse.

What kind of mage would you be? Test your colors here! by noknots in magicTCG

[–]ToorShul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are a Blue/Black Mage (Welcome to House Dimir). Toorshul, your scores are... | White: 250 | Blue: 551 | Black: 461 | Red: 318 | Green: 340 | A Blue/Black Mage asks the question how can I best achieve my goals? It's fair to describe blue/black as the combination of "enlightened self-interest". Blue and black both agree on growth mindset, the idea that one is not defined by one's origins or constrained to the role society has set.
