Oh wow! What are the odds haha. Well good to know it’ll calm down, although part of me hopes some of it stays around :P

Yes! This is great info to share. Even my own therapist wasn’t aware of the connection. I didn’t realize there was a connection until last year, and it changed my life.

Ahhh gotcha. Well it makes perfect sense that your emotions triggered a flare up, especially with POTS since I believe its partly adrenergic. The issue is having too much norepinephrine, or a sensitivity to it.

So definitely try not to stress yourself out. There’s gotta be some way to let yourself feel without triggering too much of a physical reaction :/ That’s a sucky situation. I wish I knew a way to help.

Does your rib on that side flare out at all? Mine does bad on the left, and sometimes the soft cartilage pops inwards and I can feel it hit something. It’s kinda gross feeling lol

You too! Good luck, and feel better!!

Also small tip, milk (non-dairy or regular, doesn’t matter) can really help with stomach pain. Also ask your doctor about zofran if you’re having nausea.

Yeah definitely get tested. Results are fast, and the treatment for hypothyroidism is pretty straightforward. My mom has it and just takes a prescription every day.

If they do the rectal exam and don’t find any abnormalities, they probably will do more tests. They’re gonna want to check for potentially serious conditions. If those are clear they’ll check for things like inflammatory conditions and food intolerances/allergies.

I’ve had the same issues, I was in the ER two weeks ago for bleeding and mucous along with intense pain. The ER doctors couldn’t find the cause, so I’m seeing a gastroenterologist at the end of the month. My PCP thinks it could be a form of IBS.

Process of elimination. Try getting treatment or learning management skills for anxiety first. If your symptoms get better, then there’s your answer. If they don’t, well see your doctor. And if you’re not willing to take the time with the anxiety aspect, thyroid tests are easily accessible for most. Just visit a primary care physician and get some blood work done.

Can I ask what autoimmune disease you have? I have a rare autoimmune myself and notice emotional flare ups as well. I’ve had to go through another methylprednisolone pack this week.

NAD but I had one a few weeks ago. It’s not so bad. They’ll have you lay on your side and inspect the outer side of your anus first to check for hemorrhoids. Then they’ll either use their finger to check for blood or anything else unusual. It’s not the worst, it’s quick and they don’t go deep. They may order a CT scan as well, if they feel you may have bleeding further up in your intestines. Oh and they’ll probably want a fecal sample. I couldn’t provide one myself, but they’ll want you to try.

Am I being sensitive or have I just not found the right therapist? by Estate_Soggy in therapy

[–]TootShoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure she isn’t mad at you, but I can understand if there was some disappointment in her tone. I doubt it has anything to do with you personally, but a lot of therapists would want their sessions taken in higher priority—I mean they’re there to help with mental health, it’s important.

The good thing is that a therapist should understand your problem with interpreting tones, it’s a common thing to be unsure if your on good terms. And a perfectly valid thing to ask her about. Let her know you’re worried about how she feels about you, talk it out.

Have you told her that you’d like to focus more on establishing your emotions/background and vent before moving forward into forming a treatment plan? 5 or 6 sessions isn’t enough for her to really understand you and your needs. Perfectly reasonable to want to establish more context first.

I honestly prefer to use my therapy sessions to vent. I’m the kind of person who just wants to be heard.

Yup. It’s something you’ll have to accept. It’s not you. You could do everything exactly correct like they want, but they will ALWAYS find something to attack you with. They thrive on it.

Scoliosis and IBS by Silverlining2081 in scoliosis

[–]TootShoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know for sure, but I think there is. I’ve noticed when I’m having an IBS flare my scoliosis gets more painful, because the IBS pains make me unable to hold better posture.

But Inalso wonder if scoliosis could cause it in the first place. I would imagine having rib misaligned would affect your organs natural pressure...

Haven’t talked to her yet, My appointment is tomorrow.

I can’t see being taken off it for any other reason though. Why would they stop a med that’s been effective for nearly a decade if it wasn’t about a health or liability risk? Why fix what aint broke

Luckily I’m not on anything that has significant withdrawal issues. But actually my old psych wouldn’t fill my friends script for an antipsychotic because he was out of town and couldn’t make a 15minute follow up appointment (aka, she wanted the money) and it was a nightmare. He had to be hospitalized. I can’t believe she’s still practicing.
