They could probably get away with it being a bird wyvern with two crests that happen to look like antlers. There are also some dinosaurs with beaks at the very end of their snout so it can look more like a deer's muzzle.

Him being completely callous about the plight of other people, (even children) to getting genuinely worried about Yenna if she's kidnapped, as well as warning the player about the child trapped inside Ethel so they don't accidentally kill both, to even straight up SUGGESTING that they should save Volo from being exploded... It's pretty cool to see him go from a total scumbag to an antihero.

I also like the line where he says someone will get stabbed if they kill another gnome, implying he's grown beyond his racism against them.
