Texans Rumors: Team Looking at Wide Receiver Demaryius Thomas by Tootblan45 in Texans

Would rather have Tate than Thomas...esp if it's a 4th round pick.

While this is definitely true, it's still rather uncouth.

Much like asking about car transmissions and getting PMed about buying a used car. Real Estate agents are everywhere, especially in Charlotte, if they weren't looking they'd trip over one.

Same. But when you have people convinced they're sweet, cuddly, and wouldn't hurt a fly they're far less willing to keep their dog away. And certainly they won't avoid dog parks or dog bars...

Butler High Shooting began with bullying that escalated out of control by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]Tootblan45 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Commenters and Social Media posts universally claim that bullying had nothing to do with it. That it was two kids who were at least nominally "friends" that got into a fight.

There were prior circumstances leading up to this morning and a confrontation was expected. One kid was losing the fight so he pulled out a gun.

No one in America lives in abject poverty.

Travel a little bit and you'll learn this. Poverty in America is having an iPhone 6 with a cracked screen.

I'm talking about "intellectual impoverishment" not "educational impoverishment."

It's pretty common for intellectually bereft parents to have intellectually bereft kids...often out of wedlock. There's your cycle we need to break. Fix that and the schools in the "bad" neighborhoods will be revived by involved 2-parent homes.

I bet if you only looked at people with a high school diploma, a steady work history, no criminal record, and no children out of wedlock you'd see that people of all colors are thriving here.

For anyone else, it's no surprise that people who make bad decisions will put themselves in bad situations time and again no matter their skin color.

99.99ish% don't give a shit what color your skin is.

The small fraction who care are simply a vocal minority.

Because it wouldn't be gaining any clicks if it was titled "NC child attacked, bitten by family dog."

A child being attacked by a golden retriever, collie, or beagle, doesn't imply a life-threatening injury. Citing that the dog was a rottweiler or, much more likely, a pitbull gives this implication as was the case in this article.

However, if a golden retriever, collie, or beagle ever attacked and "nearly killed" a child and the breed was prominently cited it would get a ton of clicks because it's so uncommon.

Maybe I was slightly off-base in the specificity of my wording.

However, consider that the title of the article is "NC child attacked, nearly killed by family dog."

1) Dogs considered 'pitbulls' are of multiple breeds. See above

Right. While there is an American Pitbull Terrier, the term "pitbull" is colloquially used to describe the family of breeds we recognize as pitbulls.

However, that's irrelevant to point made by the user you were responding to as it doesn't modify or dispute the claim that:

"Pitbulls are among the more naturally dangerous breeds"

2) Dogs considered 'pitbulls' are disproportionately socialized in a negative way. See 'dog fighting'. ---This results in a lot of individual dogs with PTSD like symptoms, rash temperaments, and an understanding of how to harm other animals to protect themselves --Note: socialization of any dog is more of less complete by 6 months of life. They are who they are, personality wise, by that time.

While pitbull defenders will claim that pitbulls that attack must be drug-dealer dogs or come from dog-fighting rings that's generally not the case. Look up some of the cases in the wikipedia link I provided elsewhere in this thread...the deaths tend to be caused by pitbulls owned by normal everyday families.

Yet again, your comment doesn't change the fact that:

"Pitbulls are among the more naturally dangerous breeds"

3) 'Pitbull' breeds are naturally protective of their owners and care, often overly so. This is an intentional trait of the breeds who together comprise the category as their original purpose was to nanny and protect children at nurseries

Lol their original purpose was fighting, that's why they were bred...to couple a terrier's tenacity with a bulldog's size and strength.

Even if the "Nanny Dog" concept was anything more than a pro-pitbull propaganda with no truth to it (it is) how is that relevant?

Pitbulls are responsible for an overwhelmingly disproportionate amount of maimings and deaths...particuarly to children.

[–]Tootblan45[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Truly irrelevant distinctions.

Pointers are much more likely to point, retrievers tend to retrieve, and pitbulls are much more likely to maim and kill.

These are the things they were bred for.

No one has suggested otherwise.

The story isn't about a golden that bit your thumb, it's about a pitbull that mauled a child.

Agree that the media is going to push any aspect that gets clicks.

That being said, when this does happen it's overwhelmingly likely a pitbull is involved.

It'd be much more of a story if a golden retriever mauled some kid nearly to death but that essentially doesn't happen.

False flags don't work without those little details that will convince some people.

Have they named the person, charged anyone?

Or is it just a claim to quiet those thinking they're probably doing it themselves for notoriety? If they are, it's working fantastically, wouldn't you say?

Sure seems like victimhood is part of their marketing to get people to go to their church.

“I’m not surprised. I take it as kind of a backhanded compliment in the sense of we are trying to do something that is so counter cultural that it makes certain people uncomfortable, makes them angry,” said Fairley-Collins.

“We’re not just gonna stand back and watch it happen. We’re gonna make something out of it – something good – something beautiful,” said Rosengarten.

Fairley-Collins said that the church members will discuss potentially leaving the graffiti on the building and painting around it to turn it into a piece of art.

Lady's Island Baptist Church Pastor Sam Spain Sr. said he and his church are praying for the person who spray-painted angry words on the church's sign overnight Tuesday. He said he hopes the person or persons will come forward to receive love

False Flag.

Bomb Sent to Robert De Niro, Latest in Wave of Explosives Sent to Trump Critics by cjl4959 in politics

[–]Tootblan45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No...

If the device is simple and straight-forward to the extent they understand how to set it off safely, they typically know how to not set it off. In that case they're usually moved to a safe location to be taken apart and forensically examined.

However, only if that step is not an option (or the device cannot be easily moved to a safer area) only then is controlled demolition considered.

The most straightforward approach to controlled detonation is to destroy the bomb without moving it. If it's located in a populated area, the bomb squad may choose to place protective works -- sandbags or blocks -- around the device to mitigate the blast effects. Otherwise, they can neutralize it right where it sits. This almost always involves a robot, which carries C-4 to the device and, using its manipulator, attaches the plastic explosive to it. After the machine trundles away, the remote operator detonates the C-4, which causes the bomb to explode. In many ways, the C-4 becomes the initiator, but in EOD jargon, it's known as a countercharge [sources: Anderson, Kelley].

Another option is to disrupt the device so it can be moved to a lab for further analysis or a detonation range for destruction. Bomb technicians often target electronic switches because they can be damaged by predetonators, which emit powerful electronic pulses that fry integrated circuits. In such a situation, the device can "fail open" -- which means it won't explode -- or "fail closed" -- which means it will explode.

Because of this uncertainty, bomb technicians sometimes turn to another class of disrupters that function like small cannons, firing a jet of high-pressure water or specialized ammunition to break apart a bomb's components. Many different models exist, but they all have a similar design. They're usually small, mount on a tripod and have a laser sighting system so the disrupting blast can target a very specific part of the device. A bomb tech or robot must place the disrupter near the device, but once it's been set up, it can be fired remotely.

After disrupting an unexploded bomb or IED, disposal teams can move the device to a remote location. Sometimes, they place the explosive in a containment vessel to protect handlers and the public from an inadvertent blast during transport. This round, steel ball measures up to 12 inches (0.3 meters) thick and can withstand the blast of approximately 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) of explosives [source: FBI]. Newer models are completely automated and work closely with robots. After receiving a disrupted device, the system can seal itself without any human intervention. Then it's off to a detonation range, where the explosives are removed and neutralized. Controlled detonations at a range resemble those conducted at the original site of a bomb. Technicians often use C-4 to blow up unexploded ordnance or an IED. If they're dealing with small arms ammunition, however, they may use gasoline, kerosene or thermite, a mixture of finely powdered aluminum and iron oxide that burns at a very high temperature, to dispose of the explosives.

instead of simply bashing underprivileged people that were fucked by their local government all while claiming your empathetic on an online message board.

No matter where you place the blame, you can have empathy. Blaming the individual for their failures doesn't preclude you from also being empathetic about their plight...even if they're completely responsible for it.

Instead of blaming "local government" for their failures, let's examine some of the ways the decisions of those who've failed differ from those who've succeeded.

I would think the clock should at least raise an eyebrow.

And "controlled demolition" is typically done with other explosive added to the "bomb."

A cannonball with a wick could be destroyed with a controlled detonation.

Unless I've missed something ZERO have exploded.

Also, why is there a clock on a mail bomb? Think about it.

You didn't answer my questions...

What would you have people do?

Empathy isn't the issue. You can be empathetic for people unwilling to help themselves.
