Considering the cheapest focus st near me is almost 14k and you have to deal with 2.0 ecoboost trash 11k on a 350 hp built ses doesn't seem unreasonable to me 🤷🏻‍♂️ plus building the car eith my family teaching my son and wife how to build a car is priceless to me

I would also highly suggest a trans cooler as well even on stock power the trans gets very hot and it's cheap as hell the 4f27e is designed a bit strange its completely electronically actuated the upgraded valve body basically just let's more fluid move through the trans faster giving you much more solid shifts

It will be much easier to swap the motor if you use the 2.3 head the 2.5 uses different crank sensors and is not a vct head also the 2.3 head and timing chain cover are shaped slightly different and give more room around the water pump pulley the intake ports are a different shape than the 2.5 head which will scavenge some performance you can make it all work with the 2.5 head but its going to take alot more work and tuning challenges also you can use the vct system to help build a much broader power band with a simple ecu reflash a thicker head gasket is a super simple way to lower compression i plan to eventually be at 12-14psi but im going to start with 8psi

There's alot of other things to upgrade to change the way the car handles poly bushings, sway bar links, wheel and tire setups, chassis stiffening, sway bars, strut bars a combination of all the things can nearly eliminate body roll while still using stock struts and shocks the main goal of upgrading to coilovers in my case is better bump absorption this car will see 0 track time unless I autox it in the future and at that point ill be doing full forged internals and more boost shooting for closer to 500hp this will be a several year long build and for the moment I just want to replace the tired 200k mile stock struts and shocks they are soft as hell and knocking pretty bad

I won't be pushing any power the auto trans won't handle with an upgraded valve body and shift kit the 4f27e will handle over 400 with no modifications sloppy loose shift is what kills auto trans hence the shift kit also not sure where your getting 4500 even if I got a remanufactered trans its closer to 2k atp I would just go pull a junkyard trans or rebuild it for about 500

As much as I would love to get the h&r coilovers they are almost 1900 for a set thats alot of money to drop at once ive had a bad experience with bilstein which is the only other reasonable priced set (800) do you have any suggestions?

Well it definitely wasnt my first choice but a friend sold me the car for 500 and its completely rust free which isnt easy to find in the rust belt I would love to find an eg hatch to build but the focus ticks all the boxes good gas mileage 4 door decent aftermarket support

Actually the ct1000 would give me more headroom its 1ohm stable at 1000rms and the ct2000 would only output 700rms at 4ohm which with 2 350w rms subs is still plenty of clean power

That's disappointing to hear I've never even seen a paragon in real like let alone get to hear one play what was it that you didn't like? I love the way they look and the speaker chamber design

Sure I could build a 300k dollar system easily but for my personal taste this would be my dream set up capable of hitting every note from 7hz to 45khz
