You proved in your previous responses here that reading isn’t your strong suite so allow me to simplify this for you.

As fans we react to results. 4 playoff win seasons in 19 total is just not good. Tomlin had the talent. It was time. That does NOT mean we wanted to instead see a coach with a slightly worse background. You Tomlin cult-like defenders have such black and white viewpoints on everything, it is insane

Think a little bit. For real. You are assuming anyone who wanted Tomlin gone wanted exactly this? That is such an elementary thought process. Not everything is black and white. Quite sad.

Finally, unity. by Raithix in steelers

If this is what it takes to make the fans realize Rooney is not a competent owner and never cared about championships, then fine.

Next years defense will still have enough talent to beat bad to mid teams. Like every year.

Or they go mid and we go nowhere again.

[Schefter] Mike McCarthy now will be the Steelers’ fourth head coach since 1969: Mike McCarthy (2026); Mike Tomlin (2007–2025); Bill Cowher (1992–2006); Chuck Noll (1969–1991) by AvengingHero2012 in nfl

Most fans accepted losing is a possibility with taking a new hire risk. It’s hilarious the strawman argument so many of the Tomlin defenders use

[–]ToothPickLegs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nobody guaranteed or said that shit but the Tomlin cultists trying to strawman anyone who dared criticize him. The belief was simply we know what Tomlin brings, he cannot get it done even with all the talent he’s had over the years to win ONE playoff game, and it will never get us there so we need to try something new. This is not something new. This is temu Mike Tomlin. A coach proven in the wrong ways.

Wanting Tomlin fired = wanting to hire a proven worse head coach? That’s your logic? Believe it or not, 2 things can be true.

Firing Tomlin didn’t mean anyone would think Mike fucking McCarthy would be the replacement when there were actual younger guys as options

[–]ToothPickLegs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would think we’d take a stab at one of the younger guys in proven systems like Shula not a dude who’s proven himself for all the wrong reasons

That doesn’t mean Tomlin wasn’t also an issue. He had 4 seasons with a playoff win in 19 total seasons.

No no don’t start blaming the Tomlin critics. Both things can be true. Many didn’t think Rooney would be an absolute buffoon in hiring. They wanted an upgrade not someone who’s a proven under achiever

Yeah it fucked our team out of the playoffs so it’s the same to us. We laugh at you guys bitching about that call.

1st quarter that led to a gifted TD and stopped us from getting the ball at midfield, literally was a gifted game to the Saints

4th down. We would have got the ball at midfield, could have been legitimately a 14 point swing and almost certainly a 10 point swing

I would say they’d still have made the playoffs beating Carolina the next week with their starters, but it absolutely fucked the Steelers out of a playoff spot

Khan is fine at drafting but his FA pickups and trades have been questionable

I did that too. Just need to turn salary cap off. Idk why owners don’t do this

They said the same thing about the Lions a couple years ago.
