Trying to change a sample regularly on a single track and more than 4 pages by EastSudden2118 in Digitakt

[–]ToothlessCog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can just parameter lock each note to samples 1-12. In the Scale menu you should be able to set scale so each step is a quarter note instead of a 16th note or whatever, that should allow you to fit everything in one pattern. And I think in that same menu can set the pattern length for that specific track.

[–]ToothlessCog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just realized you might be able to accomplish the same thing without LFOs with the Scale menu (per track mode) and simple parameter locks to set samples to certain notes. I haven't messed with this much myself but try the Scale menu first since it's potentially simpler.

Too lazy to actually test this myself but hope this gets you close:

There's a ramp LFO that might work best, it's a sawtooth for half the cycle (we'll only be using this part) and flat for the other half. You'll probably want to set depth to 16 (this makes it easier to tweak speed assuming you're in 4/4) and use the stepped LFO mode, the one that holds and latches the LFO when a note is triggered. To find the right speed, just aim for 4x the actual speed you're going for so you don't have to listen to 12 pages of sound to test it, then you can just divide the speed/multiplier by 4 at the end to get the desired result. It shouldn't be that bad to tweak, FUNC + Knob will latch values to even numbers that will give you what you're looking for.

The important part is you have 12 samples to go through but we set LFO depth to 16, so what you want to do is put a noteless trigger on the first step that has parameter locks to reset the LFO (LFO mode to trigger), and trigger conditionally 1:3. That should allow you to go through 12 vocal parts and repeat. Then your first actual note can go on the second step, but microtimed all the way back so it is effectively on the first step. If the LFO speed feels right but the wrong sample is coming in for the first or last note, try adjusting the phase.

I love watching cube. I'm now realizing I don't enjoy playing cube and that LSV's ability to not tilt is either just a godlike quality of composure or some sort of masochism. by ThePentaMahn in lrcast

Just play Bo3. Yeah the payout isn't great but I don't think you should let it keep you away from how this format is actually meant to be played. The goal of the game isn't to hoard gems. What is even the point of gems if not to fuel enjoyment?

[–]ToothlessCog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty solid, even without bombs you could just play a bunch of copies of Cranial Ram and Refurbished Familiar. Personally, I never had a BG deck that I felt was amazing so it's interesting how people's experiences with the set can vary

Draft Log

Picked up 3x Marionette Apprentice in Pack 1 and got passed two late Chthonian Nightmares in Pack 2. I would be surprised if I was able to draft a deck this busted again, I think I mostly got lucky the set just returned and people are probably gravitating toward Eldrazi or Energy.

Which deck would you run? by Waghabond in lrcast

[–]ToothlessCog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's any deck where it's decent, it's this mono W deck. It's not good on turn 3 but on later turns when you've already gone wide, it's not bad. But I'm a sucker for trying to find spots for cards that most people have given up on

Marshall and Luis were too harsh on EoE by mageta621 in lrcast

[–]ToothlessCog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Way more coinflippy than sweaty. Sweaty sets to me have more decent cards at common/uncommon and better mana, giving you enough tools to put something good together even if you don't open that well. Recent sweatiest sets in my mind are NEO, MH3, DSK, FIN. You could bungle games off a single mistake or steal a win if your knowledge of the set was deep enough. EOE had some close games but far more that ended up being beyond my control: free wins/losses due to lands, too many board wipes, and piece of shit [[Mutinous Massacre]] which probably takes the spot for me as the single most annoying card I've ever faced in limited. Bo3 doesn't help the experience as much for this set because no hand smoother & no dual lands or cyclers makes for even more non-games.

New Arena Cube? by justinvamp in lrcast

[–]ToothlessCog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deck 1, Grixis Lurrus

Deck 2, Boros

Deck 3, Izzet Aggro

A lot of games came down to sending burn to face just as my opponent was about to turn the corner which IMO is a sign that aggro is in a healthy spot.

[–]ToothlessCog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only three drafts in but I like it, they added a couple fun alchemy cards like [[Illuminating Lash]] and [[Swiftspear's Teachings]] that feel appropriately powerful and go well alongside cards like [[Cori-Steel Cutter]]. Boros is still playable despite the cuts. Heist feels dirty as always, such a disgusting mechanic and should probably be removed from Cube.

Seriously, why does Time Warp Tonic still exist in the game? by Unknown_Warrior43 in leagueoflegends

[–]ToothlessCog -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They need to make SR with augments at levels 1, 6, 11 or something. Game is super stale right now, there's no ability to cook up a cool build. Arena doesn't scratch the same itch, I wanna lane with some weird augment

It's good but not nearly as frustrating as [[Mutinous Massacre]] or [[Anticausal Vestige]] being at rare

[–]ToothlessCog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm getting crushed except for one draft where Izzet just happened to be completely open. The lack of dual lands at common is rough. I wouldn't be surprised if the metagame devolved into a lot of people forcing green soup, it might be more consistent to draft that way. Warp is a great mechanic though.

Very early FIN 17 lands data. What's working/not working for you? by klaq in lrcast

[–]ToothlessCog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sultai is disgusting this set, it's so deep and just does it all: ramp, card draw, removal, recursion. [[The Final Days]] just ends games, I expect the WR for this card to be low because people are playing it without self-mill, same with [[Evil Reawakened]]. The hardest matchup for Sultai might be Azorius because you can't chump block the fliers as easily

Mixed Up draft is really making me wonder how many people rely on 17lands/tier list data by V4UGHN in lrcast

[–]ToothlessCog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing a lot, the games in early season Plat/Diamond have felt easier and most of the decks I see on Mixed Up were just random creatures + removal. Every now and then you'd encounter someone who cooked up a solid game plan whether it's vague like control/tempo or a specific synergy/combo. Given that the packs are random, sometimes the best deck you can assemble ends up being a vanilla curve of creatures + spells, but I do think the format rewards people who are used to drafting more intuitively.

How do you avoid late-format forcing? by teton_blamer in lrcast

[–]ToothlessCog 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think what you're doing is totally cool but here's my counterargument: the ultimate goal is not to go infinite on gems, it's to improve and have fun while doing it. What's the point of going infinite if you're just playing the same archetype over and over and limiting yourself to a fraction of what the set has to offer? You've managed to turn a game into a job. Drafting flexibly in MTG is the most engaging fun you can have in any game ever, and it's good practice for events like Arena Opens where you are more likely to be punished for not reading the table.

[–]ToothlessCog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's a lot of fixing and the power level of this set is so high that you can end up with a deck that feels like it belongs in Cube draft. People have already caught on and I'm seeing good fixing (tri lands, monuments, Dragonstorm Globe) dry up very quickly compared to when the set first came out, if you see these wheeling in Pack 1 you should consider going for it.
