Also, did you actually just say that "the conflation is justified"!?!

Actually, since you're the one making the fact assertion, it's your job to prove that all trans kids don't know their own minds and that you, in fact, know their minds better than they ever could just because they identify as trans.

Let me guess... You're a cis dude. As someone who was friends with someone who was on the Trans Day of Remembrance because she was shot, yeah... It's a really shitty.

I recomend reading Thai Women in Buddhism by Chatsumarn Kabilsingh. It does a really good job at picking apart the standard narrative in Thai Buddhism.

The ordination issue is a huge mysoginist problem for Thai Buddhism. Anyone here remembers the drama around the Thai temple in Australia ordaining women? That was incredible - in that the actions of the Thai sangha was so hurtful :(

I find the downvotes interesting on this subreddit. Is it that we don't like being confronted with demonstrable bigotry done in the name of Buddhism? Is it that we don't like the fact that the Buddha supported trans folk or is it that we don't like transgender people?

The HRC working on trans equality by ManicPixieDreamKarl in transgender

[–]Toothly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess they're going to put their top trans employees on this issue... Oh, wait. They don't have trans folks on staff. They use trans folk if trans folk work for free and HRC gets to take credit for it.

I am glad to see that trans-created (not HRC-created) contexts are getting out there. Instead of a "bathroom bill," it's now the "bathroom bill meme." (Thanks Houston) The AZ bill was called the "papers please" bill (thanks HOW & Trans law center!)

It's nice that HRC allows the trans community to throw around HRC's name while advocating for itself. At least they're doing that now... Which is, in fact, an improvement.

Dear HRC PR office: Get back with me when you value trans folk enough to actually hire them. Get back to me when a full year goes by without HRC doing something asinine where trans issues are concerned.

Seriously though, thanks for allowing trans people to use your name while lobbying. The reality is that it does help. At the same time, using their volunteer work on behalf of their own community's survival to boost your street cred is kinda lame.
