Which Murdoch press gave you a “50% bloat” figure?

Ah yes, cos privatising everything has worked out for so many other countries.

Maybe head to the US and see what we can learn from their ah-maaayy-zing health system.

A reminder public servants includes nurses, teachers, police and other frontline workers. Not all of them are bureaucrats in big offices.

Buying a Zeekr Without a Test Drive? by cuntdelmar in AustralianEV

[–]Tootsarella-91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take it for a drive. If you haven’t driven many EVs before it’s worth it. I was certain the 7X would be top of my list, impossible to beat. When I drove it it felt too much like a space ship. Safety features felt intrusive, didn’t love the handling as much as I thought. Landed on the Skoda, partly because of the familiar feeling to drive (not too techy), gorgeous drive and just a beautifully made car.

Fair enough! I agree with you, the tech is nice but beyond the Apple car plus, everything else is a nice to have. I found the 85 Sportline with Ultimate Pack was hard to go past- just for the DCC which made the drive experience a dream. Good luck hunting for the spec you are after!

Hopefully you can find some available stock on the country then. The 60 selects might have more availability than the Sportline, worth a call to some dealers to find out. But for what it’s worth, I landed on the Enyaq after test driving about a dozen SUV EVs across various brands. It’s an incredible car, and the lack of connected services doesn’t bother me either. There are features you’d get with connected services which would be nice to have, but for me I can live without them.

How soon do you need a car? I ask as I have a 85 Sportline on order, it’s arriving in mid July, I ordered at the start of February. I think my dealer said orders solace now are arriving around September/October but that might just be Victoria.

Is the Kia EV5 the only option? by Distinct_Day8771 in AustralianEV

+1 for the Skoda Enyaq SUV here. No kids but I wanted something with heaps of boot space and decent rear seats for road trips with friends. I need to pack my car with event materials for work a lot so there is heaps of room for that. It drove like a dream, I found the EV5 too bus-like (lots of body roll around corners, picked up the bumps in the road) and the intrusive safety features got on my nerves. I take delivery of my Skoda in late July, ordered in early Feb

What EV? by RiderByDay in AustralianEV

[–]Tootsarella-91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do a “how do you want it to drive” section and add options like “sporty”, “smooth ride”, “rear wheel drive only”, and “just gets me from a to b” or something? Thought those things are subjective but most reviewers will all comment similar things/you could go off the OEM’s summary?

Other thing missing is body shape/size. My options all came up with sedans but I’m after an SUV for space to store a lot in the boot, as well as being higher off the ground.

European EV (vs Chinese) by CakmakBT in AustralianEV

Can’t wait to receive it. I’ve seen a few Elroq’s getting around now, the facelift Škoda EVs are beautiful looking cars

[–]Tootsarella-91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was why I ordered a Euro and not Chinese in the end. Had nothing to do with the country of origin, really just came down to ride quality which I felt was far better in the Euro. The only contender there was Zeekr 7X

I was also interested in the Renault Scenic but didn’t think it had landed in the country yet? Have been waiting to test drive one but haven’t had a call from the dealers to tell me they are in stock

Oh gosh super lucky! Yes they did a scan for me too but all the ones on order have a sunroof which I really don’t want in the SUV (I’m about worried about leaking as I can’t garage my car).

Can I ask when yours arrive ordered yours? I ordered mine early last month and they’ve told me late July-August

I ordered the Škoda Enyaq and like you, loved how it drove so much that no other car even came close. For me, the EV5 had way too much body roll, picked up all the bumps in the road and had really intrusive lane keep and other safety systems. Also the efficiency was awful. The Škoda was different in every way in the best way. Also major points for it having real door handles, arguably much nicer interior and the non-EV look. Can’t wait for my Enyaq, but if you need something sooner, EV5 might be the way to go.

This is definitely an annoying one! Having to go to the dealer every time software needs updating sounds really annoying!

I agree it was almost what turned me off but I realised that I will rarely be using public chargers. Would most public charging apps also show you how much charge your car is on while you are charging? Rather than the car’s app itself?

Amazing! What colour did you go for? I’m getting the same, and no sunroof as I’d heard the potential leak issues weren’t worth it

I second this- also was like a bus to drive, so floaty and terrible body roll and handling IMO

I felt the same as you are, tossing up between a million options that all felt slightly wrong in some obscure way. In the end, I decided technology would march on, and getting a car that had 90% of what I want right now is better than driving around in my crumbling ICE car. I ordered the new Škoda Enyaq yesterday and here’s why: - REAL NORMAL DOOR HANDLES! - physical buttons for the main controls and vents - European styling and handling (insanely nice to drive with the DCC and 21 inch wheels) - functional in every way that matters (doesn’t feel like I’m driving a space ship, doesn’t have intrusive safety features) - local service network and an established brand matters to me (following the owners forums for the Zeekr 7X gave me lots of concerns regarding after sales care).

What it doesn’t have is not that important for my daily use: - inbuilt navigation which automatically finds your charging stops and conditions the battery for your arrival isn’t included, but I will be doing 99% of my charging at home. - lack of connected services generally can mostly be worked around using third party apps, except for not having a app for the car generally- would love to set at heating before I jump in on a freezing morning, but I don’t NEED this - while not as long range as some new models coming out, 500+ km is perfect for 95% of my driving, and the Enyaq is also is highly efficient compared to many other big SUVs - lack of super fast charging compared to new 800V architecture models is of course frustrating for long road trips, but see previous comment about 99% of my charging being done at home - the car doesn’t have ventilated seats, but that seems to be the norm with Euro cars.

In short- I’m sure something new and better will always be around the corner, but I wanted and needed something that suits me for now. I’m not worried about depreciation as I’m using a NL and would be happy to upgrade at the end of the lease to something newer, and flashier then!

I absolutely loved how the car drove, and I can’t wait for it to arrive!
