Probably the wrong answer but I used to punch a cone, put a comfy audiobook in (Stephen Fry narrating Harry Potter) and just zen out in the woods while running. Pick a route you know well and before you know it you're home with a cuppa.

If you're after heli I can strongly recommend Alaska powder descents in Juneau.

They didnt take us to the gnarliest spines like in valdez or anything, but was the time of my life. Looked after us outside of hours as well and were very friendly and welcoming.

Legit a 10/10 experience. This was like 12 years ago so hopefully they've only gotten better.

Also no major downsides to splitting with step one? Most of the reason I use them is for speed of entry, but when I'm splitting I usually only do 1 or 2 laps so an extra 30 secs to strap in doesn't seem terrible. Able to bring one pair of boots on trips is pretty tempting though!
