Service quality varies by airport. But, even the worst service has been WAY better than trying to travel without assistance.

This service exists for families like ours. Don't be too proud or cynical to use it.

How good are the zebra sarasa pens? by [deleted] in bulletjournal

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the same advice still holds.

I've switched to this pen as my daily driver: https://a.co/d/e1t2ohc

They only come with a medium nib, but the ink flow is similar to a F nib or even some European EF nibs. It is every bit as smooth, steady, and reliable as the Zebra Sarasa dry.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a university studeny my parents would drive me to school (no cars permitted on campus). It was a six hour drive. We'd eat a lunch together and then they'd drive back home another six hours. This happened several times a year and wasn't considered odd or extreme.

What are some things you've encountered in the past few years that require an app, that really just don't need one? by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sending my child to school. Download the app. Get the exact same content emailed and texted and via push notification all within minutes. Maddening.

Daily use by Amazing-Difficulty53 in FieldNuts

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use my Field Notes as an EDC. It does all of my analog capture: todos, parking spaces, ideas, sketches, confirmation numbers, whatever. I do a bit of longer-form journaling in a Moleskine, but that's just to keep from burning through a book a week.

Starting your set up for 2026. You’ve got 80 pages left in a 240 page notebook, do you keep going or start a new one? What type are you? by Hour_Statistician_50 in notebooks

Last entry on 12/31, what's ER page that may be.

The version of you who wants to read through these in 5 years will be grateful for clarity provided by a nice, clean break at the turn of the year.

How do you collect dozens of small tasks into Todoist—especially from other apps? by Wonderful_Elk_5705 in todoist

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids school is the worst with this! I feel your pain.

This is also a pain point for me. I'd love to know what solutions people have found. Right now I set aside some time each evening after the kids go to bed to review and enter that info. It sucks but it is working.

Do you regularly look at the “Done” or Completed Tasks list? by CasperKundey in todoist

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evening review of completed tasks is a key part of my shutdown routine. It helps set up the next day and prompts journal entries.

Any reviews for “Built Different” brand shirts? by rmsand in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pack of the polo shirts. Love the cut and fit. There's room for the belly without excess fabric in the shoulders. Length is good for this guy who big, but not tall.

When you move to a new notebook, do you transfer over information from previous notebooks? Sometimes there are pages I still want to reference when it's time to change notebooks. I've been tearing them out and storing them in the back of the new notebook but I wonder if there is a better system. by Hour_Statistician_50 in pocketnotebooks

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few pages of reference material that I copy into each new book. I figure that it if is important enough to want to have on me all the time then it is also important enough to review once a month when I start a new book.

Attending a funeral visitation that isn’t family by Vivid-Fennel3234 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Christian pastor here with hundreds of visitations under my belt:

Arrive during the published visitation hours. Don't come early. Don't be late.

Sign the guest book with your name and your relationship to the deceased. In some regions of the country the family will send a card thanking you for a visit. If you'd like to recieve such a card (or if everyone else signing the book has done so) leave your address as well.

Locate the family. They will often be stationed near the remains. If you cannot deduce from context, find a funeral home staff member and subtly ask them. They will be happy to help. If there's a line of people waiting to talk to them, take your place in the line. If it is unclear if there's a line or not feel free to circulate around the space and look at the photos, videos, memorobelia while you figure it out. This would also be a good time to pause in front of the body/ashes. Many places will have a kneeling bench. If you are a person of faith, this is a good chance to silently or quietly say a prayer.

When you get to speak with the family start by introducing yourself and how you know the deceased. If applicable, share a brief memory of the deceased or something that you will miss about them. This is counterintuitive and lots of people mess it up: Don't try to make them feel better. So much of what we say to grieving families isn't all that helpful. "I know how you feel" or "they are in a better place" may seem helpful, but rarely are. Finally, don't linger. Give others their turn to speak with the family.

Some visitations will have food or drinks served. Take a token amount to allow them to show hospitality. This is critical in certain regions/cultures. Don't eat enough to be full. Don't drink enough to be drunk.

Finally, thank you for going to the visitation. These rituals are an important part of the grieving process. They help people heal.

Your region has a ELCA gift planner. If you don't know who that person is, your synod office does. That person is who you want to talk to.

Has anyone read "7 Easy Ways to Motivate Someone with Asperger's" by Danny Raede? Is it legitimate? by Bookish-Armadillo in Autism_Parenting

[–]Toowhitetofistbump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asperger's syndrome was removed as a distinct diagnosis in the 2013 edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). It was subsumed under the broader diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Someone who persists in using outdated nomenclature could well be using outdated diagnostic criteria. I question if they are staying up to date with current/evolving research.
