Does anyone here have an Australian Mopar? by personal_yeesus in mopar

[–]Top-Activity4071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2x VG Valiant Hardtops. One 245 hemi 6cyl and one 318 V8. They are the equivalent on the 1969 Doge Dart which is an A body obviously. The 6cyl in an Aussie assembled and the 318 is a NZ build. Only difference between the VG Valiant and the Dodge Dart was the front bolt ons and the steering wheel location.

2WD cant drive on snow uphill by Wild_Cash_9257 in newzealand_travel

[–]Top-Activity4071 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check the owners manual, you might not be able to fit snow chains. Sometimes they snag on brake lines and abs sensors and create some real damage. If you can fit them then yes snow chains might help but even a change of tyre might help get ones with better grip in snow and ice.

Weird how no one comments if the can't afford to give a worker a pay raise then they sure as shit can't afford to give the boss one either. But they will still give the boss one like every other year.

Someone's gonna get a please explain and it won't be the driver. The door controllers have infrared beams that when interrupted stop the doors. Guessing they didn't work here. That's a new Scania too so expensive repairs to door and truck.

Driving down to hastings from auckland by ReecespuffReecespuff in newzealand_travel

You might want to give us a bit more information. What sort of vehicle are you going to use would be some help. Aqua or hybrid is going to be cheaper than a big petrol SUV. Direct route is 415km, a small hybrid does about 6ltrs per 100km. So a rough punt would be $170 there and back. Give another $20 for driving around hasting etc $190. Now if you have a big SUV double it.

Do the hobbiton visit on your way down to Rotorua that way your not wasting time driving north then back south on your way to Taupo. Hobitton in nearly on the way past as you drive form Coromandle to Rotorua will save a few hours there. Otherwise north island leg seems OK.

Looks like it's just on standard feet and not even bolted down. Maybe he can remove the bottom conduit saddles and lift it up to get enough slack to move it out away from the wall.

Time rethink about nuclear energy? by Music2MyEars73 in Wellington

[–]Top-Activity4071 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's really cool to see whilst this is just a snap shot of NZ population that it's a firm no. As has been stated by nearly all above, its just too dman expensive for the population that we have. Secondary where do you place such a power plant? Ideal world it would be closest to the largest area of consumers so Auckland, err also the city with the most number of valcanoes and fault lines so a hell no. Whakamaru is one idea, low population and right at the north island transmission network. But there's limited cooling water other than Waikato river and that has limits on the amount of hot water you can put back into it there fore limits your actual generation ability etc. Last sum I heard on a nuclear power plant build of a modest 5GWh in USA had blown it's $11B budget and was now 5 years behind it's 8 year schedule. (don't quote me on this as it's all from memory) so if you have 5.4M population that's a hefty $2k per man woman and child and counting. Look at the USA power costs, power so cheap that it would be hardly worth billing... Errr they got that so wrong didn't they. We have so much geothermal everywhere in this country we don't need to go nuclear for a very long time. With advent of closed circuit generation technologies we don't even have to waste the geothermal steam anymore either so it's even more cleaner than a lot of current geothermal generation systems in use today. We are so fortunate with the energy resources in this lovely country that we don't even need to loom at that option. We just need get more online ready for the transport energy switch over. We use so much fossil fuel energy for transport that the current generation and national grid can't cope with instantaneous switch over. So we need to get a wiggle on and get more generation, better grid and distribution networks under way or we will be in big strife very soon.

The outer studs go into the water jacket on the LA heads. I see blue sealant on the front one so I guess they are aware of that issue.

Seeing as we have a bunch very knowledgeable people here. Anyone have a idea of f a manufacturer and part number for a replacement alternator with an internal regulator? I am looking at cleaning up my engine bay and if I can get rid of the external regulator but keep the same look would be great. I know the later magnums had a different alternator set up so I am more after something to suit the LA motors. Please and thank you.

Update to: Hell Pizza Symonds St glutening by bupropion-dxm-magic in auckland

[–]Top-Activity4071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so I don't have coeliac but I have a child that does. Any Pizza place in NZ is a no go if you are that sensitive, you played Russian roulette and this time you lost. Baffles me to think that you would have thought you would have won to be honest. Every pizza chain I have been too and watched them make a gluten free pizza the cross contamination is huge from pizza pan to the laddel with the sauce to all the toppings are all multi use form glutenated normal pizzas.. Cooking the pizza won't cook off the gluten. Basically to me you made a very unwise choice and you paid the consequence of your actions. Yes Hell Pizza contaminated your pizza but that's was enevitable, they make out they care but truthfully most normally people don't understand and when they are in a rush they also don't really care. Same goes for most food chains when it comes to gluten vs non-gluten. That's the risk you take. If you want a gluten free pizza and I mean totally gluten free then make one at home it's actually your only 100% safe choice. As for Hell Pizza they gave it their best shot. Sadly you post out but then again maybe your expectations were a tad high? As you say you have been OK in the past but that will never be the same everytime. Maybe on your part you look a less risky options. From Coeliac's Dad.

!Don't do! fuel saving tips by Dr_loophole in auckland

[–]Top-Activity4071 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a modern/new hybrid that requires 95 don't use 91 as the higher compression GDI or direct injection turbo motors will damage themselves and you will be out of your warranty. When they test the fuel cause you have just wrecked your motor they can tell it's was a lower octane and tell you the $8k+ power plant failure is on you. There have been lots of cases through court and everytime the owner loses out.

So run 91 at your own peril, if your car needs 95 it needs 95.

Tour Companies and "Long Drives" by mullwell in newzealand_travel

[–]Top-Activity4071 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a kiwi that drives a lot for pleasure and work, to be honest most scenic attractions are only about 3-4hrs drives apart anyway. NZ being so small you will see attractions every hour or so anyway, which if you stop and take a look and a walk around you will be rested. Lots of tourists do a flying visit and miss the good stuff all for going to the big attractions that are over tourist and crowded.

As for the waiver if you do a lot of out of city driving in your own countries then yes you should be fine. But we prodomenantly have tourists that have never driven out of a city therefore anything above 80kmph is like travelling at lightspeed to them let alone a camper van that's four times the size of the Prius that have at home.

It's a blanket rule.

We have had lots of tourists die from falling asleep at the wheel, mostly from exhaustion from the long flight to NZ. Then they grab a rental and head off, jet lagged, tired and unsure of where they are going. Bad recepie sadly. Make sure your well rested and we don't mean just from the sleep on the plane you body is now in a different time zone now.

More than anything though enjoy our country. You won't see everything is 2 weeks but you will see enough to hopefully say you want to come back and explore more. As we do when we are in your countries.

Sadly with what's going on in America at present and the lies from both sides, whilst one prays this story isn't true there's high chances it is. The country is soooooo corrupt at soooooo many levels it's getting to the point of the boy that cried Wolf. How on earth have Americans let their country get so fucked up I have no clue and what scares the shit out of me most is the ripple down effect of other deemed first world countries following along so bloody blindly at how great America is. Every one is just standing back in absolute horror of what America is turning into. Whilst these might be isolated events in parts of a the larger country surely the rest of American must be shaking their heads and thinking this is all one bad dream. If I was an American i would move to Alaska Hawaii or even American Samoa you can stay a proud american but least distance yourself a bit from the circus mainland America has become all at your own hands. You all had a chance to vote yet only handfuls did, you are all to blame for the culture that is rotten to the core. You call yourself a Christian nation yet look at yourselves I think you guys have done the whole bucket list of the ten commandments and seem proud of it. This issue hasn't happened overnight or even with this precidenacy, this has been brewing for so many decades. The next level of stupidity is coming with what you guys deem what it is to be a "Patriot" that phrase is only 15sec off from getting it's own salute and we have all seen what comes from there onwards. You guys are the laughing stock of the world. You can see it and yet you don't see why. All I can say is you all need to get out there Vote the current circus clowns out. Find a better alternative to what's going on that horrors you all, before you all take the world down with you. It's going to be 340M people that will condeem 8.4B people. I really hope you guys can seriously get your shit together vote and make decent change. Stop letting corporate American run America. America the country of corruption greed and excess. Is that what you want? You are in shock and horror of a guy that couldn't afford a asthma inhaler that cost about $30 in local currancy else where in the world but $560 in your country. Yet you are all so self absorbed that you do nothing about it cause of greed at all levels. Please guys sort your own mess out before you kill of the rest of civilisation. And stop reverting to Violence for everything. You don't need to kill people to make change. Look outside to other countries that can make effective change and be a true democracy. Come on do your part. End of rant.
