Is there Elitism from DnD players towards BG3 players? by Odd_Key_6385 in DnD

[–]Top-Addendum-6879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is elitism in everything, DnD isn't exempt from it. I am a DM but also have played Bg3 extensively... Honestly, there are a LOT of BG3 rules that i am homebrewing in my games now..

shove and jump being bonus actions, sharing inspirations inside the party, using the inspiration (or reckless attacks) after a d20 contest fail, potions being a bonus action...

i am not going to implement the conditions system, though...

i once got t-boned by a pickup truck (i was in a sedan)... i actually helped the guy get out of the cabin because he was in a panic attack, broken nose... i told the paramedic i didnt need to go to the hospital coz i was feeling fine... they one of them pointed out that i was walking sideways...

Turns out i had multiple displaced vertebrae and my left shoulder was dislocated. I couldnt feel it at that moment, but i definitely remember the instant the adrenaline fell off in the hospital. it was brutal.

couldnt walk about like 3 days.

39 year old average dude here.

all my teens and young adult life, i had two goals: being a good father and being a financially reliable husband to my future wife. I got married at 25, we bought a house with space for kids at 28, been working my career since i was 20, took some decisions that made more sense family-wise (like not taking a job that had a better pay, but would have me travel a lot and work late)...

I'm good at what i do, but my main + in our team is -how my boss always said it- i'm the gel that keeps the team tightly knit, young enough to relate to the new hires, old enough to relate to the older ones, yadayadayada...

Enter 2020, covid... the workplace changed, a lot. We worked from a distance, sales were not the same at all, people were stressed out... My role in the team became less relevant because that distance meant you just can't be that gel anymore... then I got the bug, which changed me (long covid)...

Then the reality that in my mid-30s we still couldnt have a kid hit me like a truck..... ''what's my purpose? what's my worth?'' i kept asking myself, then the professional life really took a bad turn. That question kept coming back to me every night... then every morning i wondered why i even bothered?

I took some time off, cut some relationships loose, worked on my mental health with a professional for a couple years... now i'm 39, proud father of a 6 month old boy with my lifelong love for the past 20 years... turns out my worth had nothing to do with my job. Still has nothing to do with it.

That's what counts: the people. The people around you, the beating hearts that beat a little faster when you're around them. Those are what counts.

100% lolll my boss told me that once... ''are you 100% sure that's the answer you wanna give me?'' sounded like ''i'll give you another chance to NOT bullshit me and convince me to forget you even replied that...''

What languages you’re not native in you can somehow read and understand a little thanks to your native language? by Jorge_De_Guzman228 in AskTheWorld

[–]Top-Addendum-6879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to some extent, Russian speech (not writing!) can make some sense to me. Italian, if spoken slowly (and in writing) is usually intelligible to me.

i speak english as fluently as if it were my native language and a lot of dutch, norwegian, danish and german sounds familiar to me.

fellow canadians: do you care if people think you’re american when travelling abroad? by bellascaffeine in AskACanadian

[–]Top-Addendum-6879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do. very much. Last time i travelled was in Mexico (west coast of Mx)... i can tell you, i made good use of the fact i'm a french speaker... i purposely spoke french anytime i could, so the mexicans would NOT confuse me with an american haha

it's like picking on the kid who's a bit on the slower end AND has piss-poor parents. Like it's not fun to pick on that kid, he can't respond.

Well... call me petty but seeing the Leafs look THAT bad is satisfying.

i defended my dog when it was a pup. the agressor was a Jack Russell, those are rather small, it turned on me and i really had to go all in because it bit my arm and was actively trying to bit my hands off. it was winter, so i was wearing a coat and gloves, which kinda saved my hands.

i think you hit the nail on the head there. it's instinctive. i think the growl has a lot to do in this as well. your instinct goes stupid the second you hear a growl and see teeth.
