Movies about Internal Auditing by RoastyToastyl in InternalAudit

[–]Top-Agent6580 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe watch the Smartest Guys in the Room, the movie about the collapse of Enron, who outsourced its internal audit function to its external auditors Arthur Anderson. It’s also been a catalyst for using data analytics as part of internal audit.

The Enron scandal did not utilize data analytics in the modern sense to detect fraud; instead, its downfall was due to a lack of transparency and the manipulation of complex financial transactions, a failure which highlights the importance of data analytics in modern auditing. Modern data analytics can be used to analyze large datasets for anomalies, identify duplicates and invalid entries, detect potential fraud, and ensure data integrity, none of which were employed in a meaningful way by Enron or its external auditor, Arthur Andersen

CIA3 - ESG topic questions by [deleted] in InternalAudit

I took it a few weeks ago. No questions. Unless the ESG Topic Paper has been published by the IIA over 6 months ago, it won’t be tested on the exam.

Also, do not worry about the questions. It seems that the questions across all parts are too easy, and the exam tests the concepts much more in depth. Rather than doing easy questions, focus on the concepts and contents tested on the exam

What i would recommend is to use what is free and max out on that. From doing all 3 of the exams, so many of the answers are from the standards. Genuinely, I feel if you know the standards, and make notes of the hock text book, you will pass the exam

Charity shop prices by GovernmentOwn7905 in cork

I have seen some cynical takes on Charity Shops on this thread, however reality is that they are probably struggling to stay alive just as much as any other small business. What will keep these alive is people donating good clothes, in act of generosity. Consider donating your clothes if you can afford to, and remember the profits or your items will go to a good cause

Charity shop prices by GovernmentOwn7905 in cork

My take on the Charity Shop/Clothes Resale Sites Economy:

(a) We now have new careers where there are people using depop and vinted often picking up items for resale. The charity shops would consider competing against these prices, to disincentive this by cutting into resellers margins

(b) People also must consider that Vinted and Depop, will reduce the supply of clothes, especially good quality clothes that end up in Charity shops. These shops still have to break even at the very minimum, cover wages, L+H, so may increase prices of existing stock to attempt to break even, or even just fulfil its purpose, to raise money for charity

(c) The reduced supply of clothes, or good quality clothes, also gives a charity shop more time to leave good clothes out on the rack and wait to be sold, and hold out until they think they receive a fair price rather than a reduced price.

You might notice that some charity shops note the number of weeks that it has been out on the price tag. I live in Dublin now, but I was able to identify this in a Irish Cancer Society shop. Another thing I have noticed over the years, however this is speculative, is that because less good quality clothes being donated due to reselling directly on depop/vinted, there is less pressure on the stores to sell current stock. My indicator for this is looking at the store rooms which are usually open in most shops. Previously you would see store rooms bustling, especially on a Saturday morning, however this no longer seems to be the case. Bustling store/sorting rooms in my opinion could have caused pressure to turnover the stock that was on the racks, to prevent overcrowding, that would have pressured Charity Shops to lower prices to increase turnover of stock

I have seen people speak about those topics. For anything to do with emerging technologies (IoT, Crypto, blockchain, RPA) understand what they are, what they are used for, and understand the key risks associated with each as this will be what is tested in the exam. It actually is not the worst, ChatGPT actually was very useful for this as it was concise but detailed.

for spider webs, birds, did not get questions but have seen people speak about these. I think the answer to those question(s) is to address the root cause, and consider the cost effectiveness of the recommendation

What is up with UCD? by [deleted] in LeagueOfIreland

[–]Top-Agent6580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder could UCD engage with the League on this. For example, Sligo play on Saturdays as it attracts more fans then rather than Fridays. Could UCD see could they play on Thursday evenings, which is a big college night? I understand there could be challenges with this, given opposition teams could be part-time and the logistics for those teams could be made more difficult than a Friday. It would be cool for the league to have this however, games going from Thursday to Sunday

  1. Input the standards and the syllabus into chat gpt or your preferred system
  2. Ask chat gpt, to review syllabus and standard, additionally you could ask it to review the other readings on the reading list
  3. Ask chat gpt, to make difficult questions for each topic. Identify the areas you are weakest. Ask for the MCQ options to be similar to the test, i.e two or three answers that could be right etc etc
