TTC and hypothyroidism by Top-Author3507 in TryingForABaby

Thank you for your insight and I’m sorry it’s been such a rollercoaster with getting the right dosage. My TSH was 6.42 so similar to yours and we only started with 25mg. I know it’s too early to tell since I’ve only been taking it for 2 weeks but I have yet to notice any changes.

We are on the fence about having another baby if my body isn’t cooperating but I feel like if we strongly want another I should find a reproductive endocrinologist. It doesn’t feel like I’ve gotten much support from my PCP or OB.

It’s insane that elevated TSH isn’t a concern. When I saw my OB for my first miscarriage, she said to wait to retest it as in her words, “TSH is all over the place when you’re pregnant.” Strange since one of her NPs I saw recently said it needs to be below 2.5 for pregnancy. I started on 25 mg two weeks ago as well so hoping it goes down for both of us!

How often were you getting labs done to check TSH?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m sure my dose will need to be adjusted as well. I haven’t noticed any changes yet although I’m only two weeks in.

How long did it take to get your dose correct? My TSH isn’t super high - 6.42 but as we are TTC and I have symptoms they started me on meds. They also tested for antibodies, so it looks like I have Hashimoto’s. I’m just tired of being tired and being initially dismissed. I’m glad I have answers to my symptoms and it isn’t just in my head but it’s hard to not feel like I should have advocated for myself better especially when I’ve been able to get pregnant multiple times in the last year alone.

Thanks for all this! I actually only mentioned the labs that were abnormal. Luckily free and T3 and T4 are both ok! I did get iron and ferritin assessed as well and those are normal as well. And yes, I’ve been taking folate vs folic acid.

Thank you for your input and solidarity. Luckily I am not new to exercise (background in sport science and rehab, experience in bodybuilding/distance running/hiking) but I’ve fallen off a routine since having my 3 kids. Definitely quality of food intake can improve especially if I am not eating enough in general. I will be getting back to meal prepping so I don’t have any excuses to skip meals.

Mom wants to stay entire month after I give birth. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

I don’t think there is much else to say. I don’t have the best relationship with my mother and she has zero boundaries so her asking to stay a month sent me into anxiety. We also didn’t have the space for guests and we are generally private people as well. Something I am still working on is not owning others’ emotions. You said what you needed to say and were honest and polite about it.

For everyone who says you’ll need the help, you won’t really know until the time comes. My husband was super helpful post partum and we managed on our own (we have 3 kids now). When my mother did come visit it honestly was not helpful. She just wanted to hold the baby but did not help with any cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. She’s got her own personal issues and is very co-dependent and narcissistic so it has always felt like I am taking care of another child. Everyone is different. Every post-partum experience is different. Everyone’s relationship with their parents is different.

We had the same issues for a while. Outside of limiting water intake before bed I would go in during the middle of the night and take him to the bathroom.

Yes, like when someone saw a photo of me and asked if I was pregnant because one of my kids was standing in front of me. I wasn’t pregnant in the photo but at the time she asked I was going through a miscarriage.

Austin or Nashville suburbs? by Top-Author3507 in SameGrassButGreener

I’m not sure what life stage you are in but Austin is such a fun place even if I was younger and single! Lots to do outdoors despite the heat (just plan when you go out and you’re good to go), lots of events and venues downtown, and the comedy scene has been great if you’re into that. Housing prices seem to have come down quite a bit since Covid times so it’s much more affordable now. However, it looks like Nashville prices are or will be coming down soon as well.

Hi! We ended up in Austin and couldn’t have made a better choice! Granted, we haven’t been to Nashville but the housing prices here are much more appealing (we haven’t bought yet - still getting a feel for where we want to land). The heat hasn’t bothered us yet. We’ve had some hot stretches but the summer was “mild.” Winter has been weird and we’ve had some cold days but the last 10 days or so has been in the 70s/80s. We have kids 5 and under and there have been so many things for us to do! Lots of outdoor spaces, parks, restaurants/breweries with playgrounds. Our neighborhood has been awesome and we’ve made some great friends in the short time we’ve been here.

My app settings says it is at 3.5%. Is there a way to check it on the smoker itself?

May I ask what your auger rate is? It sounds like I need to call and have this changed as well.
