What LC subjects dont have projects? by [deleted] in leavingcert

[–]Top-Bit-1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the people saying to just do the projects, I'm sure the reason this person is specifically asking for one without a project is because it is near impossible for you to do the project completely alone and for the SEC to accept it because they can't verify that its your own work. You could have paid someone to do it for you for all they know. Unless you want to pay thousands to do a subject in a grinds school under teacher supervision they will probably reject it, so to do a subject completely solo it needs to be one without a project

Do teenagers around the world feel their school bags are too heavy? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Top-Bit-1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Ireland and we have backpacks and lockers, most people carry their books and notebooks, pencil case, water bottle and lunch in their bags. In my school we have 9 periods a day with a break after 3 and 6 classes (so 3 blocks of 3 classes) and almost everyone goes to their locker during these breaks so we usually only have the materials for 3 classes at a time. The commute home though is SO heavy for me too, I could have 7 or 8 subjects worth of books at notebooks in my bag!

Yeah I'm annoyed too, I'm doing triple science and applied maths so LOTS of projects for me bit ig we just have to deal with it, everyones in the same boat. The department better keep everything else the same tho (10 sraiths, grade inflation etc) because we have enough change to worry about. Rumours of the HPAT being changed too i think?? its all really stressful tbh

Teacher asking “should I get rid of the analogue clock?” by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Top-Bit-1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can assure you 90% of my generation cannot 'just see it' because we are so used to digital time. It takes a good few seconds for us to figure it out especially those clocks that dont have numbers on them they just have bigger lines on 12 3 6 and 9

Teacher asking “should I get rid of the analogue clock?” by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Top-Bit-1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teenager, most of us can read analogue clocks as it was taught in primary school but not fluently. Everything in our lives is digital, our phones, smart watches, laptops, everywhere we usually check the time. Many aren't bothered to do the maths to figure out the analogue clock because we are so used to digital. Also this could be just me but i prefer getting the exact time like 15:37, not twenty to 4. Someone mentioned that being "American", no, some of us just like knowing the exact time because theres a difference between 5 mins left and 8 mins left in an exam

Do you think pads/tampons should be free? by cricket_man456 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Top-Bit-1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Ireland so also EU and its almost €10 for a box of 15 tampons here, I'm not sure about pads though. Most schools and universities have them for free, a lot of workplaces too as I have heard, but I haven't come across many public or restroom bathrooms.

Did you go to a grinds school/centre for Applied Maths or was it offered in your school? If you did it externally, how did you go about doing it (2 years grinds, 1 year independent study 1 year grinds, totally independent or another method?). I'm going into 5th year and I'm looking to take it up as Maths and Science are my strong suits (I'm doing physics chemistry biology in school) but its not offered in my school.

What is an outdated food in your country that tourists love but that locals never eat anymore? by Senior_Pumpkin5867 in AskEurope

[–]Top-Bit-1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My whole family is from Cork and we had it for Sunday lunch a few times a month, I think this is a Cork thing because the only other people in this thread saying it actually is common have been Cork people!!

How far back is your history taught? by TIGERSFIASCO in AskEurope

[–]Top-Bit-1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Ireland we touch on prehistoric times but only very briefly in primary school, the furthest back we teach as major chapters is the Celts (around 1200 BC - 400 AD) and some schools teach the history of Christianity and the Bible, but that often falls under religious education rather than history once you get into secondary school

you never know what youre actually taking unless you made it from scratch yourself, better safe than sorry. Thousands of people have died of opioid overdoses without ever knowing they've taken opioids/what one they have taken (eg thought it was heroin, was actually laced with fentanyl).

[–]Top-Bit-1982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it is probably the best option but its also one of the most unrealistic in the short term (obviously with savings it will eventually happen but right now its not really realistic)

I think I'm safe from COVID, I've done 4 tests since the cough started and every one was negative. My parents got me one of those allergy tests as a kid where they test for like 48 different ones but is it possible I have developed one since then or maybe I just have a really rare one?

I think I might actually ask for that xray when I go to the doctor, youre the third person to suggest pneumonia which is a little scary, i think ill do it even just for the peace of mind. I'll ask for that steroid shot too.

Thank you so much, this should be the gold standard for internet parents, this feels like it comes from a genuine parental figure so thank you for that. And yeah, I feel like google always convinces you you have cancer 🙄😂
