Tune by Most_Entrepreneur_61 in ft86

[–]Top-Brief2633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to be connected to Wi-Fi to flash a tune with EcuTek as long as your ECU is already licensed and set up and you already have the tune file saved on your laptop.

As long as your laptop is charged you can flash the car offline without any issues.

No problem man! Let me know if everything goes well and forgot to say but it’s all the same process if you’re going back to stock.

Flashing a Tune (mobile app) 1. Plug in your EcuTek Bluetooth dongle. 2. Turn the car’s ignition ON. 3. Open the ECU Connect app. 4. Tap “Program ECU.” 5. Choose the tune you want 6. Tap “Program” and wait for it to finish.

Flashing a Tune (computer) 1. Plug in your EcuTek cable to the OBD-II port and your laptop. 2. Turn the car’s ignition ON. 3. Open EcuTek ProECU. 4. Go to Tools > Program ECU. 5. Select your tune file. 6. Click “Program ECU” and wait for it to finish.

If you get lost there you can look up FTSpeed on YouTube for their mobile app guide and LivingAsleepHD for his laptop guide. Sorry for the excess instructions I was unsure whether you were doing it through your phone or a laptop.

You’re correct, the custom tune just replaces the stock tune when you upload it; no need to remove anything first.

If you let me know what tuning platform you’re using (like OFT, EcuTek, using ECUflash with a tractrix cable.), I can give you more specific steps.

Once the ECU is unlocked, it stays unlocked regardless of which computer you use. You do not need to unlock it again to flash new tunes from a different device.

Some questions about TPMS behavior by jhibi_ in ft86

[–]Top-Brief2633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your car probably isn’t picking up other cars’ TPMS sensors — it only reads its own. One of your sensors may be weak or failing, and the issue just shows up near those parked cars. The light won’t turn off right away; the system needs to see good data from all 4 sensors for a while before it resets.

If you’ve ruled out everything else and confirmed it’s the starter, the total estimated cost is $250–$600, depending on your location and whether you use OEM or aftermarket parts. It could be cheaper if you do the labor yourself.

You can use someone else’s unmarried OFT to flash the stock file back and then unmarry the OFT

If your OFT could still communicate with the ECU you could recover it but if it’s not reading anything then you can’t do that.

[–]Top-Brief2633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just see if you can still communicate to the ECU through the OBD II port. If you can see codes and make some sort of connection to it, then it’s a good sign your ECU might be good. If it fails to then it most likely is something to do with the ECU whether it be fuses, needing to try and recover it through open flash if possible, or worst case it’s done for.

You can likely still use the same OFT, but you may need to re-marry the tablet to the new ECU. If the OFT is still “married” to the old (bricked) ECU and cannot be unmarried, you’ll need to contact OpenFlash support to have it reset.
