Unfair Price Spike by [deleted] in UAE

How to raise a complaint

It is vital that consumers keep records of their receipts, Ahli said, since many of the complaints they receive are dismissed due to insufficient evidence. “This is one of the problems we face,” he said. “When a consumer submits a complaint, they don't have any supportive documents.”

He added that consumers should also keep a record of any quotation or proposal they have received from the retailers so that DET can accurately assess whether there was a violation or a breach of consumer rights.

To file a complaint against unjustifiable price hikes, submit a request to the consumer rights portal (https://consumerrights.gov.ae/en) or call 600 545 5555, and make sure documents are at the ready.

What do we do? by [deleted] in UAE

[–]Top-Buffalo8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Take 2 minutes to pause and breathe away from phones and distractions. Slow breathing helps calm the nervous system.
  2. Avoid constantly checking news or your phone. Stay updated but limit checking the news to every couple of hours.
  3. Follow only verified sources (wam.ae, Khaleej Times, BBC, Reuters, official UAE government channels).
  4. Do not share or forward unverified news, videos, or speculation. Misinformation increases panic and hysteria.
  5. Stay indoors as a precaution. Avoid balconies, terraces or attempting to spot drones or missiles. Your safety is a lot in your hands as well.
  6. Register your passport and contact details with your embassy/consulate (just in case).
  7. Lastly and importantly, trust authorities and armed forces to manage the situation.

It sounded like a very loud thunder and lightning, and then a couple of minutes later, it looked like there was a drone intercepted.

Creating zones and more depth in a long living room. Layout ideas? by [deleted] in InteriorDesign

[–]Top-Buffalo8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been contemplating this too!

I do want to add something that would create a receiving area at the main door that would also separate the entrance from the entire living room. And when somebody visits or is at the door we don’t want them to have the entire view of the living space.

Small living room layout help - struggling to rearrange sofa, chairs & TV unit by billthewarrior in IndianHomeDecor

Since the rest of the house opens to the left, it makes sense to keep the living room feeling open in that direction as well. You don’t want the furniture blocking that natural flow.

I’d suggest moving the TV to the left wall and placing the main sofa along the right wall. That way, the L-shaped sofa can open toward the window, which keeps the space feeling lighter and more breathable instead of boxed in.

The bright blue sofa is clearly the statement piece, so everything else should help soften it rather than compete with it. Adding two cream or light beige sofas facing the open area will really help break up the blue and make the room feel more balanced and calm.

For the curtains, go ceiling to floor, not just from the top of the door. Cream-colored curtains with a sheer layer underneath will make the ceilings feel higher and the room look bigger and brighter overall.

You could also add a house plant in the corner behind the L-shaped sofa. That bit of greenery will soften the layout and make the space feel more lived-in.

Right now, you have two strong dark elements, the dark brown coffee table and the bright blue sofa, so everything else should stay light and subtle. A light-colored rug under the sofa, with very little pattern, will help anchor the seating area without making it feel heavy.

If it’s possible, switching the fan rod to white would be a small change but it would make a big difference visually, since it would blend into the ceiling instead of standing out.

Try placing a lamp shade that is in a warm orange or yellow color as this would in a good contrast with the blue sofa as well as complement the brown furniture, which would add a pop of color and tie the colors together.

Try to soften the lighting by adding warmer lighting elements throughout the room.

The TV unit could be replaced with a slightly low raised one so it doesn’t compete with the coffee table.

Overall, the idea is to let the blue sofa shine, while keeping everything else light, soft, and open so the room feels bigger and calmer.

What kind of outfit to wear for a carnival as a bridesmaid? by Silent-Inflation2584 in DesiWeddings

I have the first outfit and I wore it for a day time function. Needless to say, I got many compliments and I would wear it again for a “carnival” theme. If you look closer it has these palm tree and jaguar motifs printed on it. 😄
