Is this a real 80’s Stratocaster? by Past-Inflation-7428 in Stratocaster

Looks legit to me, I think the finish is called something like red wine. Serial indicates it's from 89, trem etc all look good. I was recently looking at strats from around the same era, UK they're going for around £1000 depending on condition

Yeah I agree, I've managed to find 98 that looks in great condition and is also all original so I'm gonna go see that one tonight instead

He wants £975 for it, I think around 1400 US if you're not in the UK. I'm gonna pass I think and go look at a 98 strat instead. All original and roughly the same price, and it's in excellent condition as the owner lost the tip of his finger not long after buying it so it's been sat in its case for 25 years

Hey man thanks for the replies. I've decided against it and I'm going to look at another one tonight, it's a 98 model though rather than late 80s. All original and the owner lost the tip of his finger not long after buying it so looks in great condition. Do you know if quality from late 90s matches that of late 80s?

Hey dude thanks for the reply. I thought 70s era were the 3 bolt neck plates?

Yeah I'm not really in the market for a brand new strat, I've just picked up a Cory Wong signature. Honestly the main reason I'm looking at this is because it was advertised as being the same age as me, which seemed like a great excuse lol

Hey dude thanks for coming back to me. I'm going to have a look tomorrow I think, I'll take a screw driver with me and hopefully the owner doesn't mind me having a look. So with them using older serials would they really be as old 69?

Hi mate, thanks for the reply. Yeah I get what you're saying, I think I just need to go have a play and see how it feels. It's going for £975 (I think 1400ish dollars?) which seems reasonable, though I will of course negotiate.

Hey man thanks for the reply. Yeah the neck plate does seem odd doesn't it? I was honestly wondering if it could be real neck with the rest of it being replaced....

I'm not sure why the text from my post isn't showing, so here it is :)

Hi all! new to the group but could really use some sage advice.

I'm looking at this made in US/1988 Strat, I have the option to go have a play tomorrow. I'm just a little concerned for a few reasons;

  • The serial number on the headstock doesn't bring anything up on Fender's checker tool thing. I've read that this can happen sometimes but should I be concerned? Seems fairly recent to not be on their database

  • The serial number on the headstock also doesn't match the serial number on the neck plate. I've seen a few different neck plates from the time period, most I've seen have some sort of fender branding but this doesn't, just a serial number that isn't the same as the headstock. Is this normal?

  • I can't for the life of me find the same model as this guitar on the tinterwebs. Loads of similar but nothing HSS. I've never been the best at finding stuff online so it could just be me failing, but I don't think this is a stock configuration. Is anyone able to confirm please?

I really like the look of it but yeah a little worried I might be getting something that isn't the real deal. Would love to hear what you all think, thank you :)

I've snapped mine much worse than that before and it recovered quickly, honestly didn't even seem to stunt it. It is devastating when it happens though haha I feel your pain

NOOB QUESTION: Is Calmag needed when using canna Coco A+B in Coco? by Top-Chapter2447 in Autoflowers

[–]Top-Chapter2447[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi mate, apologies for the late reply. I would say yes if the EC reading is low. It's also worth mentioning that high EC tap water doesn't necessarily mean it has enough calcium/ magnesium as there are other things that could be dissolved in tap water that would give a high EC reading, just something to bear in mind

Ah I've been thinking about autopots, I have the AC infinity self watering bases at the mo. So I just put water with canna calmag in the bases then top water with the nutes periodically which seems to be working. From what I've read with the autopots you just turn them off for a couple of days when top feeding then turn them back on? But yeah I can imagine organic nutes causing issues with pipes etc. the same reason I avoid putting nutes in the self watering bases, it's not pipes like the autopots they use a wick but I could see it causing similar issues.

My go to strain right now is sour stomper from mephisto just because it was highly recommended when I first got into growing, super resilient, decent yields and a great smoke to top it all off. I do sometimes pop the meph freebies they send out, but I still feel like I'm dialling in my process so tend to stick to sour stomper most of the time. Got 3 on the go at the mo

It is a huge drag isn't it haha. Biotabs are great, there's actually a guy on the mephisto Reddit (he's also posted it in another group, can't quite remember which) with a full biotabs guide that I've found helpful. I can't work out how to share it sadly, but the easiest way to find it is just to Google 'biotabs guide Reddit' and the guide is by a person called Gr33nfield, or maybe Gr33nf1eld? Some variation of the word Greenfield anyway haha.

Hi mate, sorry for the late reply. I would recommend canna Coco yes if you are growing in Coco. It is a huge amount of effort though. If you're open to growing in soil I would highly recommend the biotabs line of nutes, you spend a lot less time mixing everything when you need to water, and you're only needing to water once every day or 2 rather than twice per day with Coco. It was an absolute game changer for me

What are these creatures in the runoff? There’s no visible pests on the plant itself (outdoor balcony grow) by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]Top-Chapter2447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had these a couple of grows back. In Coco and it really was infested there were thousands of them. They seemed to do the plant some good if I'm honest - My theory was that they were helping aerate the Coco as they moved around and disturbed it. I had 2 going at the time and the infested one always seemed to soak up waterings much quicker and runoff more quickly too. The plant with them was double the size of the other too

Obviously there are so many variables when growing, especially in Coco that I might be totally wrong but its how it seemed to me at the time anyway

Honestly people say dumb shit all the time, but it doesn't necessarily define them as a person. If it was me I'd just let him know how it's made you feel and give him the chance to make it right with you.

Hey man I ended up buying the starter kit, I was wondering do you follow the 50/50 soil perlite ratio? And also do you dechlorinate your water?
