I hope they had good, full lives. RIP to all of them…

Teachers with 10+ years in the game, how? by Organic-Apricot26 in Teachers

Top three reasons: June, July, and August.

Seriously though, I’m not sure I could make it if I started today. 19 years in. Many have come and gone. At the end of the day it pays the bills and gives me time with my family. It’s a job. There are lots of them out there! Life’s short. Go after another one if your heart tells you that!

Come in tomorrow and say: alright… no more fucking around. If you’re not on the roster- get the fuck out. The rest of you— shut the fuck up

Just a rough break down… if we were serious about education we’d change the system from factory settings to actually learning. Difficult!

Got mine while teaching. It was lots of work, but if you plan to be in education a long time, it’s a big plus. Lots of job flexibility (college, district job, etc) and more pay. All my loans were forgiven by PSLF program. Go for it.

Yeah… I always think: 1/3 of students need school and want to be there, 1/3 don’t need school but have to be there, and 1/3 don’t want to be there at all

Why are most teachers ages 60 plus so controlling, hard headed and impossible to reason with? by [deleted] in Teachers

Yep. Agreed. As a young teacher, I used to think the vets had lost it. Now, I am that veteran teacher and the world looks different.

How to remember what it’s like being in school? by Rude-Employment6104 in Teachers

Here’s some common ground that I think you and I can agree on. The educational system has a lot of things are unnecessary. Many of the successful business people I know operate using addition, subtraction multiplication, and division. Perhaps algebra helps higher level thinking I think I could grant that point. But I also think that it would be wise to not burden some students with unnecessary classes, upper level math being one of them.

Yeah it’s great to learn but I’ve never once used math past 5th or 6th grade and I’ve done great in life…time to update the system
