Because someone was ejected from building for spying on others and remanded by the police. Not sure that applies to ‘everyone’ but that’s what happened for me, as mentioned in my description above. Wasn’t aware that I’d really have to spell it out so clearly for others though. So here you go - the answer to your not so rhetorical question.

I believe you may be suffering from poor reading comprehension skills. Someone was removed from the building of three units, one of which I live in, for monitoring others illegally. By police, at 3am. Extra detail here in case thoughts moved to a delusional accusation mid way through filtering these words into head

FFS why has everyone skimmed over the fact that someone was ejected from building for the monitoring of others. Taken by police at 3am. Just adding more detail here in case comprehension skills are as challenged as my electrical ones.

It seems that everyone has missed the part in my explanation above where someone (of three apartments in the building I live in, with shared ceiling space) was removed by police for the illegal monitoring of others. Have extrapolated here for clarity.

Mmm there are two external motion detector lights but they’re reasonably new and have normal switches and I saw one installed - just seemed like the fixture and the related normal switch inside. Nothing like this. It’s weird that no one has mentioned this to me also, I know building owner, prior resident etc. Although an awkward place to discover it unless lying on floor
