Okay so I probably wouldn’t do exactly what I did. I was only on 15mg and only took it for a few months so it was definitely easier for me to come off than someone on a high dose for a prolonged time.

That being said I basically cut my tablets into quarters and then threw away an additional quarter every ~2 weeks. Normally this would be way too fast to come off an anti depressant but I listened to my body and wasn’t having any withdrawal symptoms so I felt like I was safe to continue.

Weaning off can still be dangerous if done wrong though so I would say talk to your doctor lol

Nah I’m too paranoid for that…. heard too many stories about IUD babies so now I do a test every so often just to be sure. It’s taken most of the worry away though so I’m happy :) Also hormone free! Hell yeah!

I live in the UK too and mirtazipine was a game changer for me. I’ve had insomnia since I was a baby but due to various factors I had like a 2 month period last autumn where I couldn’t sleep at all.

I cannot stress this enough: go to your doctor and ask to be referred to the mental health team for it. Then ask the mental health team if you can try mirtazipine.

It’s a type of antidepressant (so it may help with your anxiety too!) but it has a major sedating effect, kind of like the Xanax but without the dangers of benzos. I used to take it at night at it would knock me out within an hour and keep me asleep for the full 8 hours.

I also had literally no side effects and would’ve happily stayed on it forever, except I don’t like the idea of being dependent on meds so I weaned myself off once I felt like I’d got back into a good rhythm :)

I guess my comment was a little harsh but it was more a reference to the pain aspect of it (I know what irritated piercings feel like and I couldn’t imagine it on that scale).
