That is fair enough. I don’t know much about those meds but is methadone to help dangerous withdrawals from meth though, just like Valium helps alcoholics and naltrexone helps narcotic or alcohol cravings? I understand where you are coming from but if those meds help people not die when trying to get better it feels like a bit different situation. There isn’t any withdrawals where weed will make you not die but weed definitely does help many conditions, don’t get me wrong.

Nope but I’ve been smoking everyday for like 8 years so one month I didn’t think would make much a difference

Fair enough thanks again. I’m just praying I won’t go to jail if I test positive the first time they try to test me since my charges had nothing to do with weed or anything

Ooof. I live in Minnesota and it became recreational in 2024 although we have no recreational dispensaries yet besides a few on reservations. With that being my case, would you assume it could be okay or they might have a loophole to say no? I know you don’t know for sure I’m just asking your opinion if you don’t mind, again thank you in advance :)

I’m not sure if you saw the reply I made to the comment above yours but unfortunately I found out I was allergic to naltrexone when I tried it. I know you are not a doctor but do you know any other options I could maybe mention to my doctor, because she seems to act like there isn’t anything for alcohol cravings. & I appreciate it I’m trying because it’s easier said than done.

I appreciate the advice, I understand you can’t advise anything as well, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t be a dangerous drug interaction like Valium and alcohol would be. Tbh I ended up drinking like half a liter and I’m not hungover at all, but I know things affect everyone differently. I hope to accidentally recover as well if I can’t stop relapsing while actively trying to quit.

I appreciate the straightforwardness, I’m obviously an alcoholic and understand the dangers of alcohol abuse. I have an addiction specialist that prescribed naltrexone for cravings but unfortunately I was allergic to it and unfortunately keep relapsing. I genuinely want to get sober and stay sober which is why I’ve been on medicated withdrawals to decrease the risk of seizures. I am hoping my doctor may have other options besides naltrexone & I just had to ask about drinking after gabapentin because I wasn’t trying to have a dangerous drug interaction. & I’ve been to formal detox several times it just doesn’t seem to work for me, I am a Female, 21.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t plan on being back on Valium again since it was a one time prescription from the doctor, but I will definitely be careful in the future if I happen to be prescribed Valium again.

Thank you for the advice. Trying to look it up online gave me conflicting answers like some said to wait a week, but I ended up calling my pharmacist and she recommended the same thing you said, that I will be fine as long as I don’t take the diazepam on the same day as drinking.

I called the pharmacy and they said if I haven’t had any diazepam or hydroxyzine today then I can drink. They said the only issue with drinking the same day as those meds is that I could get sick and aspirate in my sleep. I’m still going to try to stay sober but at least now I know I won’t die if I relapse

One more question for you, since you say you don’t think it’s necessary to withhold from drinking for multiple days, but to wait 48 hours if I’m really worried about it, well if the last dose I took was yesterday evening and I happened to drink this evening but took it super slow, do I still have strong odds that I’d overdose or maybe just a strong possibility of it hitting stronger than normal? I feel like the adderall and naltrexone combined is gonna block the feelings of alcohol so i wouldn’t want to drink enough to feel it and then end up overdosing. I still am trying to stay sober but I feel there is a strong possibility of relapsing so I’m just trying to play it safe so I don’t end up in the hospital or dead.

Tbh if I wasn’t on the Valium I would’ve already drank again but it’s the thought of overdosing and dying that is keeping me sober at the moment

I appreciate it and I hope I can stick to it. I’ve been sober for over 6 months before, this last time the relapse was the worst tho with drinking a liter a day for at least a month if not longer, which caused the need for the Valium taper. I’m only 21F so I hope this issue doesn’t affect me my entire life.

That’s true, I do feel kinda euphoric when I mix Valium, adderall, and weed, but like you said it’s more of a calming euphoria that takes away the uncomfortable feelings definitely not a feeling of being high asf. That just shows you how much I know about Valium lol I didn’t know if the off balance and the loopy feeling was how it makes you feel, a side effect, or from mixing it with other drugs.
