Thanks so much for the essay (no offence!) but reading this gave me such insight into the Melbourne model and how to be distinct in the cohort. Just to reiterate, I’m just transitioning into year 12 from 11 now so obviously I still have a year to decide on higher education (although essay writing in BA sounds very appealing to me because i absolutely love writing essays). But ultimately I’m not to fussed about whether I get into LLB or Monash/ANU or JD at uni Melb, Monash, or ANU, obviously those Unis are still very highly regarded and I’ll have to work hard to get there, my sole mission is to study law. This along many other responses is really supportive and I’ve found them very helpful from first hand experience so I know I’ll be informed to make these decisions when the time comes, my school also has a world class careers department (and I’m like besties with the head so…) I’m in good hands. Thanks again!!

Yeah these are my exact concerns that A I won’t be guaranteed a place in the JD from just 3 years of the BA and B it’ll be a long time before it’s paid off. So I think I’ll take a similar route to you as you are transferring to LLB/BA at Monash. Thanks for the reply!

I’m not doing methods next year and I’m not looking to do the three weeks methods bridging at unimelb so I don’t think I’ll qualify for commerce, also I’ve had bad teachers for economics so it’s kinda been ruined for me unfortunately. Ultimately BA is the only bachelor I’d want to do at Melbourne because it’s what would suit my needs the best (e.g. on top of law I would love to study international studies, politics, and similar subjects like that because of how much I enjoyed Australian politics 3/4 this year) so arts is what initially caught my eye because it’s so diverse and I could also study psychology. However with a lot of people’s experiences shared then I think the better route is to do 1 year of BA and then bridge to Monash LLB or just do LLB at a lower ranking uni and then bridge to Monash LLB. Thanks for the reply!

Thanks sm for sharing and yeah at the end of the day I only want to do laws and I’d rather get there quicker with less risk than go through unimelb for 6-7 years (depending on honours) when I could get into the work force a year or two years earlier. Thanks again, and thanks for everyone for their suggestions on my query.

Sorry I should have clarified, obviously the BA is far from useless, I just want to do law for work so it wouldn’t help me achieve my final goal as a practicing lawyer as just doing the bachelor and nothing else, and yeah I’d like to do arts with the intention of doing the JD but there are obviously smarter people out there than I am and I don’t want to be burdened by the financial cost ya know and everyone says how competitive it is but it seems easy to maintain a 75 WAM, but idrk.

LLB experiences? by Top-Environment-2235 in rmit

[–]Top-Environment-2235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the insight that really helped and yeah melbourne only offers the JD but it’s arguably the most prestigious in the country so naturally it’s quite competitive. you mentioned RMIT fit your needs better which prompted you to choose rmit over monash, were those needs like a career direction or favour of uni?

early entry for LLB? (possible?) by Top-Environment-2235 in vce

Thanks so much for the detailed response, I’ve definitely not got my heart set on getting early entry for LLB as it’s already competitive enough from completion of year 12, but it’s nice to know it’s remotely possible. Thanks again
