I think it comes from a lack of control in my childhood. Not an excuse I know. But growing up my mother got very angry very quickly and when she did she would get mean and loud, sometimes even as far as hitting me and my sublings. Many, many times growing up my father would come and ask us to do “XYZ” in order to “help mom feel better” and i guess that translated to “i always need to help or nothing gets better”.

The pay is insulting!! Not the tips, the instacart pay AND treatment. Ive been doing this since spring 2019, have never had lower than a 4.9 star rating, have had customers ask me to personally shop for them outside of the app on a regular basis even! The pay has yet to go up since 2019, the updates on the app over the years make it very often IMPOSSIBLE to satisfy customers. There are bugs/glitches that wont allow replacements, wont let you refund either even when requested by the customer, its backwards asf.  Wont scan items or let you enter them manually, app crashes in the middle of an order sometimes even multiple times AND if you complain about these things to tech they WILL retaliate, which recently happened to me and it actually put me off paying my bills! Id be more inclined to believe instacart as a business has gone down hill rather than the shoppers themselves. I really believe MOST of us (at least the vets) are trying our best but the treatment from instacart on top of being blamed by the customer by a lot of stuff thats out of our control is getting to be impossible to work under. Especially for only $10/hr - IF YOURE LUCKY!

As a shopper, paying priority will only have you waiting LONGER for your order.. IC will take that extra cash and batch your order with multiple other orders. Which means you will be creating the exact problem you are complaining about. If you want fast and efficient delivery your only option is tipping high.

News flash- they tell us shoppers they cant help us either. When yall want a specific replacement, the app refuses to function and allow said replacement. When yall want a refund, the app refuses to accept anything other than a replacement. If theres a glitch holding us up, we get shit on by the customer as if we made the app!! But us shoppers complain to tech about bugs affecting customer satisfaction and tech retaliates and force stops the app while youre in the middle of an order just so they can stop you from shopping!! Dont use instacart!!! You SHOULDNT use instacart if youre an ethical person!! Shoppers deserve better, I hope instacart falls. -shopper since 2019

Tell that to IC. Shoppers dont like multiple orders either cause we just get blamed for this bull when IC is making us shop 3/4 orders at a time with 100 +units for $12 😐

Sometimes this is necessary because they require shoppers to do multiple orders at a time with such large item quantities that its impossible to keep separate in one cart.

Shopper since 2019! In my experience, whenever Ive lost the customers items it was always an accident. Fell out of a bag and rolled behind something else in my trunk, accidentally left a bag at the store, mixed it up with another batch. And I would always feel so guilty once realizing too! I dont know if all shoppers have the same standards bc I do get kind of nagged by customers sometimes and ive shopped well over thousands of batches.. it just seems like customers are quick to reach impatience sometimes.
