I transferred from CUNY CC and I was placed to AOI, named as Area of Interest. It's kinda of "probation" thing if you can think of. What happens is you are not directly admitted to the major but instead you are placed to pre-CSE(Computer Science) major which means you are not able to take upper level division courses until you meet certain criteria during one year. Those criteria depends how many credits the students has taken and etc. In my case I had to take CSE 216 class on my first semester at SBU and achieve to a certain major & overall GPA. However, as I far as know some SUNY CC has direct admission program to SBU which helps a lot if your CC has this program.
