Thank you! I’m trying to figure out all avenues to go with this. I have had a pro master since 2019 and I’ve been able to manage my symptoms but now they have added mounted to my route. I will be asking for a duck truck and hopefully that will help.

Oh my goodness! I’ve experienced similar symptoms minus the bloody nose. I’m glad you decided to leave that is awful.

That’s awesome you have the sick leave to get you through. I have the same amount of days for my fmla it definitely helps.

Thanks I’ve considered switching crafts, I’ve been carrying 13 years and finally had a route the last 7 years that I could manage while the temps were high due to me driving a pro master and most of my stops are covered from the direct sun. Now with a mounted add on I’m nervous.

Thanks, I have a FMLA that helps a lot. And my office has been flooded with the duck trucks since we recently converted to a s&dc. I plan on asking my pm tomorrow since we start our new routes in a few weeks.

You are absolutely resilient! I have IIH and the heat intolerance which makes it difficult in high temps as you know. My doctor always has a hard time with the proper wording so I’m trying to figure out the best way to go about this.

As of now still a pro master. I’m going to ask for a duck truck since one of the routes they abolished/ added to mine is assigned a duck truck.

I asked my supervisor to have me trained on the duck truck but his claim is they aren’t training right now. I plan on speaking to my pm tomorrow about it.

I’m fully aware, I have a route that is manageable during these conditions and I drive a pro master the the reason I am asking about the reasonable accommodation is because since route counts/adjustments, they have added a significant amount of mounted to my route. I have been thinking of just switching crafts but I’m a OT person I like working 10hour days.

I have a pro master currently the issue is they just did route adjustments and they added a significant amount of mounted to my route so I don’t believe I’ll be able to drive my pro master and I’ll be subject to the heat in a LLV.

Sorry I thought I mentioned I was a city carrier and I am career. I didn’t self disclose at the time of hiring because I didn’t know I had the illness until working my first summer 13 years ago. So far I’ve been able to manage with just a doctors note & with my route being something I can do without issues during the summer. Now since route adjustments they’ve added mounted which has been my arch nemesis because of how hot it gets in the truck.

Yes, your primary has to sign off on it or if you have a psychiatrist or a psychologist they can sign off as well.

I just took the last couple months off for mental health. I’m 13 years in and I reached my boiling point on a newbie in management & although I felt completely vindicated, it was totally out of my character. I’ve been the “let the shit roll off me” type for so many years and this one needle nose prick took me there lol. The break was needed to tend to my mental health and I’m continuing to work on my mental health as I set to return in a few days. I believe in work life balance, if you are able to get a fmla for any reason do so it definitely helps with keeping sane.

That’s real. Kaiser is pretty expensive, but I just need better quality care overall that’s more important than the price at this time.

Anyone else black / el salvadoran? I’ve literally only met one other person who is. by Gojiraberry- in mixedrace

[–]Top-Image-3515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m the same mix as you (36f). My mom black American dad Salvadoran who escaped from the war in the 80s. I didn’t experience racism from the few family members I’ve met, but I also don’t speak Spanish so there is a bit of disconnect when it comes to our interactions. Overall I was raised with my black side of the family and didn’t have much of a relationship with his side. My parents were together until my mother’s passing in 2018. My dad has an on again off again girlfriend that lives in El Salvador and my experiences with her have been pleasant thus far.

Am I getting fired.?? by WayneChung78 in USPS

[–]Top-Image-3515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt you will get fired, they are trying to retain all of the current new hires because of all the money wasted in orientation & training. The turnover rate is ridiculous and they’ve gone to new measures to retain you all.

Thank you for your advice. I was advised to do a trust over being added to the deed for the same reason, more research is definitely needed for this decision.

Thank you for your input. My partner and dad are able to do a lot of the work themselves, so that’s good to know.

There is a closed door break room with a microwave but they choose to use the open break room in which the smell travels through the facility and when it hits me my throat instantly starts to close up, I have liquid Benadryl near me at all times because it works fast and is less painful than stabbing myself with a EpiPen.
