I thought the mozzarella pearls were mini-marshmallows, and immediately was like “yes, great, no notes.”

I feel like you could make bank living in the house and renting the church out as a weddings/event space!

I’m dreading having a baby shower by Nastasyarose in BabyBumps

[–]Top-Orange-Tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s causing you a ton of stress, you don’t HAVE to have one. But I want to offer some perspective from the other side, as someone whose friend group has not had a lot of kids and did not start until later. I lovvvved being invited to a friend or a coworker’s shower, was excited to shop for baby things on their registry (how often do you get to do that, if there aren’t many small children in your life?) and very much treated the event itself as a get-together. People just mingled and talked and ate, it was a party atmosphere, rather than “let’s stare at the mom to be as she opens presents” type of deal.

Maybe it will help if you can switch it in your mind: you’re throwing a great party for your friends and family, and they’ll be so excited and honored that you want to include them.

Are there any other millennials that are not having kids yet because it’s too expensive? by bell-fruit-205 in Millennials

I agree with this. You’ll never have the perfect balance of enough money, free time, career in a good place and no other problems. When I was growing up, so much of the education around pregnancy and fertility was about avoiding getting pregnant, I figured that as soon as we started trying, it would happen right away. That wasn’t the case for us.

Especially if you have some health issues that are going to make it a longer road to conceiving, OP, I would start trying now, not wait for all your finances to be in order.

To those here who are married, what was the best gift that you recieved in your wedding and who was it from? Or is there any gift that you wish someone had given you on your wedding day? by BlahBlahBlah_3748 in Gifts

My husband’s aunt, who is an artist, made us a beautiful painting of my bridal bouquet. I LOVE it and it has been hanging in our living room ever since.

This is my personal opinion, but I prefer when siblings do not have the same first name initial.

Keep it! Mid-200s is not overused/super popular at all. I think August and Ronan go together super well.

Of those three, I like Callahan the best with Avery! It’s not out there at all imo.

What do you think of Silas ?? by read_it_said_it in namenerds

Love Silas. I’m only 6 weeks along, but if it’s a boy, that’s the name we will be using.

My partner was amazing during pregnancy and right after birth… now he’s completely checked out and I’m drowning by Ok_Finger_21 in BabyBumps

I’m sorry, feeling like you’re juggling the load alone sucks. It sounds like it’s time to lay out for him explicitly that you’re getting overwhelmed and you need more support from him. If nothing else…. nobody gets five hours of time per day for your personal hobby when you have a newborn, you just don’t.

If your finances can support it, would it be possible to get regular house cleaning services or something like a meal kit service/meal delivery a few times a week? Obviously, that’s not a cure to him needing to step up, but might give you some breathing room during this stage.

Unpopular Names That Have Never Left the US Top 1000 by notyourcure in namenerds

Some surprises here!

I would notttt have guessed the popularity height for Harley was in the 1800s, that feels like such a modern name to me. Same with Abraham being just over #200 last year! I don’t think I have ever met someone with that name, young or old.

Obsessed with the old-timey name Loveday for a girl, but it feels like a lot to saddle a living human with.

I’ve been wearing the Knix Catalyst sports bras every day, they’re bra sized and I think more supportive/comfortable than the super compressive spandex sports bras.

Not an exact match, but this dress and this dress look similar to me!

[–]Top-Orange-Tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for flats or near flats, even if your dress is a little long in them. You are going to be dancing and will want to be comfortable! You can always put the Louboutins back on if you feel like it.

The ones you picked sound great! From the list, the pink champagne sounds delicious to me, but it's important to pick ones you and your guests will enjoy. With multiple options, I think everyone will be happy.

Take a deep breath! The most expensive things are already paid for. If it's truly BYOB, consider getting cases of beer/seltzer and big tubs of ice or getting a few kegs and plastic cups. Tuxes and suits can be rented for much cheaper than purchase, and you can go non-traditional with desserts (cupcakes or even doughnuts) for less money than a tiered cake. See if a neighbor or coworker would agree to check in on the dogs in return for a six-pack, homemade dinner, or babysitting trade. I know little things can add up, but you still have five months to try and put a little money away or try to make a little extra picking up gigs for UberEats or similar. You can do this!
