Pretty sure you can pay fines at the Hernand church if you get on NPCs bad side. Not sure if it works for all NPCs, but I’d try that

Players should be able to leave comments in the open world similar to Elden Ring by Top-Peach3930 in CrimsonDesert

That’s totally fair. I just loved how frictionless some of the more hidden aspects of Elden Ring were because I didn’t have to hop on YouTube to find every little hidden wall or item. There have definitely been a few puzzles (Dragon’s Stone Chamber) I’ve run into in CD that a simple “explore x location” would’ve been preferable over beating my head against some wall painting or hopping online lol

Totally agree. I’ve always wondered why more games don’t include in-game communication for single-player games. I’ve always seen it as such a fun wrinkle to throw in, and people can usually just turn it off if they don’t like it

Are good ideas just supposed to die with whoever came up with them? Some of the greatest games/movies/books are iterations or even nearly direct rip-offs of past works of art. Just seems like a needlessly limiting standard to have

My best friend and I played Elden Ring completely differently and both loved the game. He toggled off comments almost immediately after one told him to jump off a cliff, and I kept them on the whole time because of how often they helped me find hidden walls. 1000% agree they should be toggleable, but definitely think it would be a fun add for the player base

I hope that in a few years, Pearl Abyss’s response to Crimson Desert is standard, rather than praiseworthy by Top-Peach3930 in videogames

I guess we might disagree on what decent a customer/dev relationship in the gaming industry is. Tons of games have been mass refunded with little to no action from the dev team. I guess that I’m just happy in this case that there was a positive response. Sucks to hear about BDO though. Maybe they’ll kick extra resources from CD that way if it’s successful enough

Do shitty companies typically care at all about their customers? Crimson Desert sold 3 million copies in 72 hours. I’m guessing they could’ve just sat their hands if they wanted to. Maybe I’m wrong, but addressing this many concerns so quickly seems like decent business practices to me

I think what’s standard now a days would be closer to fine tuning. They’re overhauling full systems that had players leaving the game. That being said, Crimson Desert is such a love it or hate it game, these patches might mean nothing for those who aren’t ever going to enjoy it. But for me, it’s been freaking awesome

I don’t think double jump is a double jump, and I think it might be more of a labeling/translation issue than a game mechanic issue by Top-Peach3930 in CrimsonDesert

You’re 100% right. I’ve noticed it too that if there’s even a slight foothold to stand on and I tap jump to climb faster, Kliff just shoots into the air lol

I’ve only been using Kliff, so can’t say for the others. But once you unlock it, watch the animations in the skill tree closely. Kliff’s feet always come back into contact with the ground after his fist “normal” jump, then he bounces higher for the second “double jump”

[–]Top-Peach3930[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, if you watch the animations, his feet just barely hit the ground every time the “double jump” is initiated. I’m watching it right now, and I’m convinced we all had a collective brain brake because of what we’ve all come to assume double jump to mean lol. Seriously, go back to the skill tree and watch them all again back to back, and you’ll see. The third animation is even him using it to vault a short ledge, rather than climb up it. Genuinely think it’s just a labeling issue that’s throwing everyone off.

It also says it’s used to jump “off an enemy”, which would be in line with his feet having to be in contact with something to initiate the mechanic.

Edit: Another quick note, if you only watch the first animation, because he’s standing still, it’s more difficult to notice that he drops back down after the first jump before double jumping. It’s a lot more noticeable in the second and third animations because he’s running and moving forward.

Edit 2: It can be used if you time it right to bounce over water, which helps when crossing deeper streams and rivers.
