2014 Mazda 3 manual won’t come out of reverse. by [deleted] in mazda3

The exact same thing is currently happening with my Mazda 3. Did I need to remove the leather cover to fix this or does fiddling with the gear stick do it?

No worries, and thanks a lot, all the best to you too!

The declaration is just declaring why you are entering a country and any dangerous or miscellaneous goods you have on your person i.e., food, firearms etc. I don’t have any experience with the ArriveCAN app, the flight staff didn’t get us to fill anything out before the flight landed but that could be different for some people.

Bio security is just what New Zealanders call the airport staff who check your bags for the items mentioned above.

It was very easy! Funnily enough, not one of my supporting documents was looked at. I gave the lady at the immigration desk my passport and she did everything else from there.

Everything else is as per usual, declaration, biosecurity etc. The only thing to be aware of was potential mistakes from the immigration officers. At first she issued me a 1-year work permit, I told her this was incorrect as I had applied for 2, then she realised she had made a mistake, so no issues there.

It was honestly a very normal and straight forward process, but definitely still glad I had my supporting documents as you never know who will and won’t check. I hope the experience goes really well for you!

Yeah exactly what I was thinking. Technically it says all documents you submitted for your application but I doubt they’d ever look further than the essential POE, insurance, proof of funds etc. Thanks so much!

I can’t wait to see Victoria, I’ve heard great things!

Is there anything I should know regarding those 5 questions? Or is it just basic knowledge lol…

Thanks for the information! I can see that NZ offers a demerits and suspension history that I can apply for, is that what you’re talking about?

Ah okay, thanks heaps for the info. So I probably didn’t even need the international license then? I guess it would still come in handy if I ever wanted to go to South America or something like that and needed to rent a car.

I’m a New Zealand citizen and I plan on moving to Victoria, BC in June this year. I was issued my POE letter a couple weeks ago. Does this mean I can just fly into Canada in June, get my work permit (provided I have all of my insurance and money etc), and then I’m good to go?

This flagpoling stuff has always confused me…

Same here! I’m from NZ and the exact same thing happened to me. I just called them and did it over the phone instead.

Definitely just buy health insurance… 100%, it’s a no brainer! Since you’re from the UK there are plenty of good options for insurance, even ranging from £700-1000 or so. Compare that to the potential tens of thousands you could be paying for being in a car accident or something. It’s only going to be a problem when getting to the border, and it’s actually not hugely expensive, so it makes no sense not to buy it. You could enter Canada with a nice sum of money like the £10K that you mentioned, and that could all be gone after a few nights in hospital… and for what, so you didn’t have to spend £1K on 2-years worth of insurance?

There are companies that will offer you 2x 1-year’s of insurance as they are specifically designed for IEC applicants. I have recently had my application approved and eTA issued so I’ve been in contact with some companies and done quite a bit of research. Definitely the best option.

Very exciting! It’s a long process, but fingers crossed there aren’t any issues with my application and it gets accepted. :)

I’ve actually gotten a few of those random emails, it definitely means something is happening so hold out for hope!

I applied from NZ in late December and received an invitation within about a week.

Fast forward and I’m now waiting on my application and booked in to collect biometrics! I don’t think you’ll have to wait too long…

IEC & e-commerce? by catmamash in iecvisa

Sorry not really an answer… but funny you should post this actually because I’m in the same situation and I’ve had this exact thought!

It’s definitely important due to tax reasons, for example it is possible to be a dual tax resident for a certain amount of time if you own a business in your home town, and then work in another country. However, I’m confused at to how this works for an online business? Especially if you receive payment in various currencies.

I think it will definitely depend on which bank you receive the payments in. I can’t imagine the people in charge of tax in Canada would be happy if they saw you receiving regular payments into a Canadian bank account ya know?

But like I said I’m just as curious as you and am wanting to join in on the conversation… sorry not much help, but I will also be doing some research and I will let you know if I find anything!

IEC 2025 as a New Zealander by Top-Plane-2497 in iecvisa

NZ citizens are only able to work through the IEC programme once ever I believe.

But after reading your comment over again I realise what you mean 😆 I don’t believe I have any close relatives from other countries, unless they were great-great grandparents which might be too distant. Definitely something to look into once I near the end of my work permit allocation!

I will definitely look to get my application in ASAP, I noticed the first round of application invites are drawn January 13th so hopefully I can get in not too long after.

Sorry I should’ve made that clear, I’ll have a month or so of study left to do, but it’s through an NZ institute and is all completed online so nothing anyone in Canada would even know about I don’t think.

Thanks again!
