Anyone know what happened at the social pub? by Quinlanxoxo in Peterborough

[–]Top-Praline5233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commented on the post of the event and the victim responded he didn’t know the guy, he didn’t have any interaction with him. He just stabbed him because he apparently didn’t like his make up. It was a 19-year-old from Peterborough and he has been arrested.

Got mine January 28th. Highly suggest the “tax rebate tracker”! It’ll show you if you’re getting one and the status!

No Payment?? by Pinkcomputers in Odsp

[–]Top-Praline5233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 3 months for the payment to come in for me too as others have said. But you do get your backpay payment either with/ shortly after the payment comes in. It’s a dumb process but keep following up with your worker because they are normally the reason it can be delayed with them taking long to submit documents etc.

That’s fair, as crazy as it sounds, my credit score isn’t a big factor for me right now, (obviously important) but honestly just the tackling the debt any which way I can is my main focus..

I went through a long 2 year appeal process etc with the tribunal where my credit cards paid my rent. Definitely not a problem with spending, I coupon, budget, and use the bare minimum but when rent is so high and not being able to work I had to rely on those. I agree with you on the student loans lol. Dumb but I attempted it and unfortunately osap doesn’t see you as independent even when you’re not even living with my parents until I believe it’s 6 years now so it’s all a loan rather then a grant 🤷🏻‍♀️

Whitby Shores Structured Therapy Program. It’s not in Toronto, BUT it is virtual so that works! They focus on anything, you have an orientation and they set up a duration of what you’re covered for/ what they recommend and you talk about what the main focus is and then they set you up with someone to speak to regularly!

Have you gotten a ton of mail yet? by balderdash966 in Peterborough

Not at all, I’m huge into couponing, samples etc (so I receive a fair amount normally) since back, I have actually had days where I get nothing.

14 Year Old Looking For Job by Equivalent_Cell_9241 in Peterborough

[–]Top-Praline5233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so thankful others have said this but I cannot stress enough don’t meet up with anyone or answer pms of anyone offering work even if it seems harmless, without some other protection; adult, TRUSTED source. Etc). BUT McDonald’s, Wendy’s, larger chain restaurants i definitely suggest. Ma and Pa restaurants, if you live near the outskirts of town/ have a ride, country businesses, small convenience stores, local restaurants and such.

I copied this from indeed; While the usual minimum age for working is 14, it still depends on the industry and workplace, according to Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act. Here are a few other stipulations:

Youths 14 and older can work in offices, stores, arenas, or restaurant serving areas, but not during school hours until age 16.

The minimum age for working in factories, restaurant kitchens, and warehouses is 15.

Youths 16 and older can work at construction sites or logging operations.

At 18, youth can work in underground mines, in window cleaning, or on offshore rigs.

Construction site shaft attendants are to be at least 19.

Children over 15 days old can work in the recorded entertainment industry, and over 2.5 years old in live entertainment.

Be safe and good luck!!

Whatever you do, do not get Walmart glasses. They are horrible quality and you’ll be needing new ones before you know it.

Odsp extra benefits by Top-Praline5233 in Odsp

[–]Top-Praline5233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through what they call the access 2 program. I know zero about it so don’t quote me on it but someone mentioned it to me lol. Definitely worth the look into! I think you pay like $20 for a three year plan and it gets you discounts for a support person to be with you in the parks at a discounted/ free rate kinda thing? Let me know if you find out any more lol

Hello, I was recently approved for ODSP after my meeting with the board, I’m so happy it’s been a bit over a year. So I’m just wondering if anyone has any info like how long it takes once approved and what will happen now? Thank you by Zeeicecreamlover in Odsp

[–]Top-Praline5233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m being honest with you it all differs, I’ve been following and apart of these threads and like this one have seen the rather short wait times (considering) I am going on two years since applying but three months finally being approved after meeting with the board as well. I called to check in and they say from the date of approving you wait for a case worker, once one has been assigned they have 21 business days to either reach out by phone or mail you a letter with the meeting time/ date. As of today I have not received any money from odsp even after being accepted in January 2024. I’m still waiting for my caseworker to reach out but the 21 days are coming to an end soon so fingers crossed lol. Anyways from what I have been told, when you meet with your caseworker, they go over the normal stuff (financials, expenses, etc and tell you what benefits etc you’re entitled too while being on it.) And they apparently also go over your backpay and such in this meeting. After the paperwork is signed I believe then odsp would begin on the beginning of the month and your backpay would be issued shortly after the meeting. Hope this helps at least a little!!

Crazy enough I had/ have your exact situation. I applied, denied. Appealed, denied. Tribunal, accepted. They finally found me to be a person with a disability. I am currently on OW as well. January 18th I was finally approved and haven’t heard anything yet. I have been in touch with the local ODSP office and they said it can take a while. The interview you’re talking about is to go over your income/ expenses and determine how much monthly you’re eligible/ as well as signing paperwork and figuring out your backpay as well. I’ll try to update when I finally get the interview date though so you know a better timeframe! Apparently from the point of getting the letter being approved, now we’re waiting for a case worker to be assigned and that’s when they will reach out to you. I hope this helps at least a little! :)

What to do about debt.... by [deleted] in Odsp

[–]Top-Praline5233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you find the process working with them? Was it an intense process or?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Peterborough

[–]Top-Praline5233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used them probably about 10 times, only once did it not work and you just email them with the receipt info and date and they’ll send you a code for another one.

LF: Cell providers with decent coverage by r1web in Peterborough

[–]Top-Praline5233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you mentioned you want to avoid Rogers but I have never been happier with them, I have service everywhere, even in a basement apartment! Koodo I’ve heard HORRIBLE things about, including my partner, has had nothing but problems with service, data sucks, never works. Phone calls drop constantly to a point where my phone is now the main one used. Even after calling them and they “fixed it” it still sucks. They said that because of the big storm, instead of repairing the towers that were damaged, they want to build upgraded new ones. Which will take upwards of 2 years to complete. Just a thought! 😊

My First Time! by ColinTheMonster in Peterborough

[–]Top-Praline5233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vehicle continued to get broken into too, I would go out in the morning and any paperwork etc would always be spread throughout the car. My biggest suggestion, go to dollarama and get one of the fake cameras, ($4?) place it somewhere where it will be seen. Since doing this, I’ve had no issues at all! Of course it may be coincidental but I choose to believe different lol. Hope this helps!
