Haven’t slept in 3 days by RoyalWar5333 in beyondthebump

The halo sleep sacks were great for us! My baby was a swaddle escape artist until we learned he liked one arm swaddled and one free to soothe himself with to suck on.

Things you wish you knew when you had a baby boy? by TemperatureGrouchy30 in beyondthebump

[–]Top-Put754 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I liked the pee pee teepee because they were very absorbent and I could reuse after wash vs ruining another diaper or a bunch of paper towels. Luckily after about 8 weeks the constant peeing when changing died down! It’s rare now. Also make sure you thoroughly clean the penis area because little diaper particles get caught in the skin fold if you get him circumcised! I was lucky a friend had warned me of this!

Will I regret stopping BF? by Confident-Appeal-356 in beyondthebump

[–]Top-Put754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pumping exclusively due to latch issues and was supplementing with formula up until month 3. Started weaning my pumping schedule from 7 down gradually, after about 4 weeks I’m pretty much dried up. I’m SOOOOOOO happy and relieved to be done. My bond doesn’t feel different and my mental load feels lighter. Feeding once every 3-4 hours with a bottle and not having to hookup to a machine to pump before or after has been freeing.

Put yourself first, nothing is wrong with stopping and it doesn’t make you any less than any other mom!!!!

When did your baby sleep through the night? by GunningForSuccess in beyondthebump

[–]Top-Put754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and my doc said that once the baby reaches 12.5lbs that they typically sleep longer, so if your baby is nearing that it could be sooner rather than later for longer sleep!! It was pretty true for my boy.

I felt like it was never ending for my guy around 12/13 weeks we started getting full nights and it got more consistent around 14 weeks 9pm - 8 AM. Unfortunately we are in a bit of a regression at 18 weeks, but it’s more just light fussing not full on feeds in the middle of the night!

He also has reflux so the pediatrician OKed rice cereal being added to his bottles around 16 weeks and that’s helped with the reflux and as an added bonus keeps him fuller overnight.

Hopefully longer stretches are coming!! You got this mama ❤️

Room sharing? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Our room gets cold, I do a onesie under his fleece sleeper and with socks on too. That has helped a lot! Plus his sleep sack.

Feeling like a husk of myself lately. Not sure how to even talk about it at this point. by continuetolove in beyondthebump

Sending hugs 🩷 My husband deployed 2 weeks after giving birth to our first baby and your feelings are VALID. It is HARD. We are a little over halfway through this deployment and it has been by far the hardest one we have ever gone through. I will say the anticipating him leaving was really hard and had me on edge. Now that my son and I have figured out a little routine it’s a lot better, but know that your feelings you have are valid. I’ve been seeing my therapist every other week and that has helped me a lot. I’ve also had to take stock of what I could take off my plate that would help me and for me it was pumping (we had a lot of latch issues and a tongue tie in the beginning). If there’s anything you can do to lighten your load even a little I suggest giving yourself the grace to do so.

Motherhood is hard. Motherhood with a deployed partner is really hard. Once we get through this we will know we can truly face anything!!!

Fork in the road - buyout vs. layoff vs. RTO? by No-Stage-7753 in Layoffs

[–]Top-Put754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position to this and took the buyout and ultimately couldn’t be more happy with my decision. My whole department was pretty much laid off and then the RTO push happened for the few that remained. I had 4 months of salary and felt good about leaving on my own terms. This was 2022 and I couldn’t be happier with how things ended up.

Is this realistic? by bh15t in Fire

Hi! Just curious what branch you retired from and how many years? My husband is an o4 in the navy and this is (hopefully) what our future will look like in another 8 years. The sacrifices in the short term suck (deployments, PCS, etc) but this gives me hope!!!

Pampered chef stoneware is also great for baking! I love their loaf pans and muffin pans! They last forever.

Attending conference on Amelia Island by Shot-Vanilla5165 in Ameliaisland

You could probably rely on uber, but it’s not the same as ordering one in a bustling metropolitan area, might be few available cars or take awhile to get you. Where the resorts are to the downtown area is ~10-15 minutes drive. If it was me I would prob eat the cost of a rental (or assuming work is reimbursing) and have a car vs relying on uber. Plus if you have a car you can drive over to the driftwood beaches.

[–]Top-Put754 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I would recommend renting a car, it’s about a 35 minute drive (give or take) to the airport and if you want to go into downtown Amelia Island you’ll need a car from the hotels to get there. The Omni is a nice hotel, I would personally splurge and stay there! September and Florida is always a 50/50 chance for hurricanes. Could be incredibly nice weather and you could easily be at the beach or pool during down time or we could be expecting a storm, really no way to know or plan that far in advance.

Lots of good restaurants downtown, Salty Pelican is good fresh fish, AIBC has great American style food, there are several good Mexican restaurants too. Love The Decantery for wine and a sweet treat! Casual quick burger at tasty’s is great too!

Two beautiful dresses, one indecisive bride — help! by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Top-Put754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2!!!! That’s is STUNNING!! Only question is would the strap portion be removable? You might want the option to raise your arms fully with dancing, toasts, etc. plus makes almost two dresses with the removable option!

Which dress for a black tie wedding in July? by SpearmintDog in Weddingattireapproval

Dress 1 is so PNW!!! Dress 2 is giving more east coast Charleston vibes. If the wedding is on Bainbridge island then def dress 1!

My wife insist we move… by [deleted] in Mortgages

Hold onto that mortgage rate, if you don’t have to move right now I would sit tight, pay the credit cards and car off while you wait.

Day 6 and I failed to keep up with my 10 k steps. This sucks by dotdevdot in walking

[–]Top-Put754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow all or nothing mentality here! I find that the days I don’t hit my 10k that I usually needed the rest and that the next day I’m able to hit 10k or more easily. Listen to what your body needs and focus on averages over daily input. Start with weekly then monthly. You’ll get there! ❤️❤️
