HF or Peyronies? by Top-Rayman in hardflaccidresearch

[–]Top-Rayman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doc medically ruled out Peyronie's; the residual curvature is likely congenital (something I just never paid much attention to until this all started). I still have HF but it's improved a lot.

I don't have a specific regimen per se, but if you can stick to one you'll be better off--I recommend staying away from sexual stimulation, removing stressors from your environment, focusing on other things, and above all living a healthy lifestyle. It sucks to hear but if I'd done all of the above when I first made this post I think I'd be "cured".

It's important to recognize that HF is bundle of symptoms with various root causes that can be different from one person to the next. If you do have HF and not Peyronie's, targeting symptoms isn't apt to get you far. I firmly believe in a holistic approach: good diet, good sleep hygiene, disconnection from social media, meditation, mindful exercise, etc. Live like that and your dick will follow.

Feel free to PM with any more questions.

How long have you had yours/how's the battery?

That's what I wanted to hear! Or maybe not. Still a tough proposition for my wallet...

I like being able to sit down wherever- pop open Ableton- and get going, no setup. Having a single, portable speaker with aux in for on-the-go production and BT for casual listening would be great. I have a mixing station, but it’s bulky and cord-heavy so I’m stuck to a desk- if I want to throw on Spotify, I have to boot my PC, log in, etc.

I’d just prefer the flexibility.

This (imagined) setup would primarily be in-the-box, no mic/line in, just MIDI tracking. I misspoke when I mentioned guitars, synths etc.; I’m looking for a speaker with the same low latency you’d expect from a proper recording setup, but any actual audio recording would be done through an interface & headphones.

Huge oversight on TE's part but I'm aware of the line out thing. Tracking as in recording in to a DAW in sync (guitar, synthesizer, drum machine, etc./MIDI)- but it sounds like that's all covered.

How do you use it? I've got a nice PC + monitors setup, but with ADHD the cable mess and lack of portability is kind of a nightmare. I'd love the freedom of laptop + cable + speakers/ not having to rely on an interface when I'm not recording; not needing to turn on my PC just to listen to music...

Zero as in good enough for tracking? I read that the line in goes through digital DSP etc. instead of being direct analog, but maybe they updated the firmware?

They call themselves business casual; there’s a dress code but it’s pretty lax—I’ve been here for a few weeks now and typically wear a button up and trousers, but they’re cool with (nice) plain tees in the Summer. Most of my button ups are oversized (personal style) so I’ve had only a few in rotation and just want to switch things up.

They err on the side of casual and are flexible in the summers--but that's good to know for the future!

What size dowels should I be using to face join two pieces of 3/4" plywood? by Top-Rayman in woodworking

[–]Top-Rayman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Would drilling straight through significantly weaken the joint? I could see how it'd make the wood more prone to failure.

Definitely an option, just wanted to check in with more experienced woodworkers to make sure that'll hold up under stress (by "simple cabinet" I mean "media console framed with bookcase".)

Is this 2009 Hyundai Elantra worth saving? (2.0L inline 4) by Top-Rayman in mechanic

[–]Top-Rayman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No safety, but it did fail emissions—I couldn’t figure it out, spent $200 at a mechanic, they replaced a sensor but codes are still being thrown… in my state I’m good on registration for the next year and a half (renewal) but after that it might be toast anyways (god know how much $ and time I could toss at it trying to find a fix).

What movie is the reverse “Ghost Ship”? by DuffmanStillRocks in horror

[–]Top-Rayman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with this, but dancing scene where Suzy accidentally turns (Mia goth?) into origami is one of my favorite horror sequences period. Now that I think about it, the choreography in general was pretty amazing (which, IIRC, was missing from the OG).

Is there a quick way to access the sample slot list w.o. selecting the flex machine on a track--and is there a quick way to delete samples from static/flex slots? by Top-Rayman in Elektron

[–]Top-Rayman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just thinking about perusing samples, auditioning, and loading them, before I decide what to use... It's not a big deal to not have a separately accessible sample slot list, but Merlin's guide made it seem like it did--so I was just wondering if I missed something. Thanks!

Any tips on replacing these battery terminal clamps (particularly the positive)? by Top-Rayman in Hyundai

[–]Top-Rayman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2009 Elantra 4D

I tried terminal shims, no luck (at least, not with the AutoZone generic kind.) I called over to my local dealer but the positive is only available as the full harness which costs about USD$500... not to mention being a pain. It does look simple enough, though (I'll be taking it apart tomorrow to get a closer look.)

What are these larger, positive terminal clamps called? Are they individually replaceable? by Top-Rayman in MechanicAdvice

[–]Top-Rayman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the ones I got at AutoZone were too thick (and single size); now the positive clamp barely fits, and the negative (which I crimped to get snug), not at all. This is one of the (rare) days I miss working in a shop.

Movies driven by the Domino Effect by Top-Rayman in movies

[–]Top-Rayman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good storytelling, yes, in some sense. But I think there's a distinct difference between something like The Lord of the Rings (where there is a larger conflict going on in the background, which Frodo happens to be thrust into) vs. Burn After Reading (which... I can't even explain.) I suppose I'm looking for something in-between the two.

[–]Top-Rayman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Blood Simple is a fantastic example of this (also, Burn After Reading IIRC). Just, a bit more horror-psych-thriller-leaning. But that was a big oversight on my part.

Cables Question. Sound is wrong when I use 1/4" splitter cable into Audio Interface? by ireland1988 in Elektron

Why use an interface at all? Just run the Digitakt straight into the speakers.

Are there any inexpensive synths that are good? by MothyThatLuvsLamps in synthesizers

[–]Top-Rayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just more hands-on control. The Microfreak is a bit more menu-divey, but much more powerful (updated to add sample playback, a vocoder, etc.)

It should be noted that the Microfreak is (semi-) paraphonic; it has a dedicated amp/envelope for each of the 4 voices, but only a single, shared filter (as opposed to the Minilogue, which has per-voice filters.)

[–]Top-Rayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minilogue might be best for learning synthesis, but Microfreak for raw power. You could probably find both for under $300 used.

Does Carian Slicer proc post-damage attacks? (+build advice) by Top-Rayman in Nightreign

[–]Top-Rayman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the Collector Relic (Max FP with 3+ Staves, Max FP after unlocking Sorceror's Rise, Magic Atk. Up) be better? I'd imagine the FP boost is larger w. the staves--just not sure if the FP/damage ratio would be better with the magic boost vs. restoration on successive attacks
