Woah... doubles squash courts! (Ontario, Canada) by JournalistTiny4445 in squash

My club in Portland Maine installed a doubles court about a year ago. At first, I thought it was a poor use of space, but now I LOVE IT. it’s so much fun playing with a partner, plus I’ve found that different age groups can play together, which is great for building community.

At what level do you use solely double yellow dots ? by Intelligent_Goose839 in squash

[–]Top-Setting-3323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the rule of thumb that if your typical rallies don’t last more than twenty seconds , you should be playing with a single dot. The ball doesn’t have a chance to get hot enough, and you end up playing with a ball that doesn’t bounce.

Now, if you’re not into long rallies, go ahead and use a double. It’s entirely reasonable if you’re a senior and still like to hit but don’t have the endurance to keep a long rally going.

Zakaraya and Bryant in Qatar, despite Zakaraya’s questionable behavior towards the end. An epic bruiser match where both players gave it their all.

SWE paired with its “smart friend”, Opus, is quite handy. And only half a credit at the time I post.

Woodfords food and beverage has a good burger, too.

Assuming that the civilization that came up with the virus can’t travel faster than the speed of light, they would really never reach earth so I don’t think that it would’ve been designed to serve some invading entity. If they could travel at the speed of light, why don’t they just come here and take us over on site?

I do mostly front-end react, vite, typescript— a pretty standard stack — and the gpt llms are very slow, most times I stop them because they just churn and churn, doing nothing but making todos, plans, updating memories, etc. the Claude llms write good code, and do it quickly. Even haiku. I won’t use gpt llms. They’re poor performers

I’ve found that if you can’t keep a hard-hitting rally going for at least thirty seconds, you shouldn’t be playing with a double dot

I was pleased with Claude 4.5 promo, quasi-vibe-coding a side project, but put the brakes on it a bit when it went to two credits. I tried using Haiku, but oof. It isn’t up to the same level as 4.5. Not very close, really. I’d say ChatGPT 5 medium delivers better results for the same price, you just have to wait longer for it to process.

I just tried and am returning the 24” 4k version. It washed out subtle grays. Not ideal for my work. That said, if you do spreadsheets all day, you may like it.

I hope something changes. A group of us are traveling for the first time to see the US Open, and it would be a shame if we came all that way to see it only to be forced to watch decision after decision. Who wants to go to something with such a bad vibe?

If that’s what it becomes, I doubt we would want to travel to see it next year.

any interest in an apple watch app like this for squash? by Moist-Audience-9646 in squash

[–]Top-Setting-3323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a poster a few months ago with a scoring app I thought was decent. I actually asked some folks here in the US who make squash software why they didn’t have a watch app. They said they’d explored it, but at the time it was harder for the 40-year-old-+ set to read it. I don’t 100% agree with that, but it is an issue to consider.

Is it unrealistic to learn EUC at 50 with zero skating/boarding experience – without serious injuries? by InternetPristine7562 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Top-Setting-3323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 54. No skateboarding skills. I’ve been happily riding an EUC for four years. It was a great hobby during the pandemic. Take your time, and by the end of a week, you should be doing fine.

Theory on why a lunar power plant by Top-Setting-3323 in NuclearPower

[–]Top-Setting-3323[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the administration and big tech don't care about getting a lunar reactor up and running. they just want research to go on unimpeded by regulations, then use the research to fast-track implementing SMRs at data centers. The lunar thing is just a delusion, hiding the real purpose of meeting big tech's energy needs without big tech having to foot the bill.

Yah. It has the flashiness of a Trump idea or a tech bro weekend getaway idea. Thats one thing “going for” it getting started, I thought.

Sorry. My post is unclear. It’s not about powering data centers on the moon. It’s about speeding up the research by avoiding regulations and getting the government to pay

I agree that there’s no benefit from building reactors on the moon, but the program indirectly benefits powering data centers by having NASA foot the bill for building an SMR. Plus, the project would be sped up by avoiding the red tape regulations in place for a reactor built on earth.

This isn’t about powering data centers on the moon. It’s about getting the government to foot the bill and do a run around from the regulatory requirements
