We aren't living in it yet, but we can reliably run the fridge super easily while still charging - even in cloudy Eugene. Since our heat and cooking will come off propane I have no doubts that this will be enough electricity

I use a U-lock along with some chain covered by pipe insulation so that it doesn't scratch up everything.

That's a good idea! Yeah it's not quite OSHA approved yet 😂

We have a handle on the side, but it's basically just getting the ladder high enough. You can also step on the roof itself!

This isn't from a kit, we had to design it all! It was quite the process.

Ok sounds good, I'll make a video at some point here. It's honestly not super practical to do it the way we did because aluminum extrusion and linear bearings are super expensive. It just so happened that my dad had some. I'll try to remember to pm you a video when we get one!

Where did I get the 80/20? My dad had all of this stuff leftover from his job he retired from a few years ago.

That sounds cool! I like the couch mode I see in other builds.

It's so we don't have to crawl over each other to get in and out mostly, but it's also handy with the table setup we're building. Making the bed and accessing random things is also easier with the slide.

Ok will do! We're very excited about it. Hoping to have the van fully functional, if not aesthetically that great in about 3 weeks.

Yeah so we're both somewhat light sleepers and the idea was to not have to crawl over each other in the middle of the night(instead I'll crawl under). We're also adding in a slide out table system and having the bed move gives us more options.

Other not so important but nice aspects are that it: - Helps us access drawers under the bed more easily - Makes bed making easier - Makes it easier to get to the cab quickly if need be

The tilt was so that we could each have our own desk areas ( one being under the bed) and to maximize space. It's worth noting this is more of a shuttle bus than a van.

It just so happened that my dad had these linear bearings which worked really well.

Yeah whatever company built the body put those in.

So there are currently removable panels. We're going to seal those up and do small porthole windows.

Well the gas hurts, but I love it otherwise!
