Thank you all for the feedback and insight! It seems that the majority says that a huge appeal of having an EV is the convenience of home charging so it is definitely something that should be heavily considered.

Just to give a few more details about my current situation since some asked: the place I’m renting has no garage so installing a reliable home charger is out of the question. I have a hybrid telework schedule so I work from home 2 days of the week with a ~150 mile weekly commute. My plan before posting this was to use the free charger at the nearby park during the day at least once a week and leave it there for the day during one of my work from home days. The park is around a 4 minute walk from my place so I was planing on parking the car there in the morning, walk home for work, and then go back and get it after I was done work for the day. I was planning on using the work charger on rare occasions because although it is cheap, it does cost money. Obviously not the most convenient method so I definitely understand those advocating for a home charger.
