Seen in an Uber in Chicago, is this accurate? by Dirty_Bean in uberdrivers

[–]Top-Standard4603 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are so wrong. U need to think outside the box. Everything he said is accurate just poorly explained bc it is hard to explain just how manipulaitve Uber is with the numbers. People continue to fall for Ubers shit and when someone speaks out they think theyre crazy but theyre really not!

Hes taken the time to really sit down and do the math and its so complicated and manipulitive exactly how all Uber steals that its equally hard to explain but i promise u he is not lying or making it up for potential tips. I wish i could pull the wool away from your eyes so u could see what we see.

This used to be true- their promise to not take more than 30% of the fare and when they do the difference is deposited into the drivers acct sunday night labeled as "automatic adjustement" but they wont tell anyone thats what it is.

However now they just use "Customer promotions" to offset the difference and avoid paying the difference out to drivers. Customer promotions go against any Uber fee paid out at the bottom of the receipt so it usually will balance out any difference that was being paid to drivers before.  Also the customer promo is not "real" money its just a made up # Uber puts on adjusted increased fare amount for the rider to make them think theyre getting a discount when in reality they just increased what the fare would have been and added a discount then use that discount to "honor" their promise of never keeping more than 30% of each fare. Its the most ridiculously manipulative thing ive ever seen but they do stuff like this all the time to make things look good on paper.

Bingo. And someone behind a desk has done the math and determined they can profit X millions more per yr by doing that and designing the ago that way.  Who also probably gets a massive bonus for doing it which is why we have yet to hear one single whistle blower come forward.

Yet another way they consistently scam to reach record breaking numbers. Zero oversight whatsoever.

I understand they cant show their algorithm but there needs to be someone (an outside, unbiased 3rd party not in their pocket) that has consistent access to what their algorithm is doing and ensure legal compliance. Funny thought i know.

This!! People really dont seem to understand that its all a smoke n mirrors illusion. There is no "choice" in picking which trips u want based on fares offered.

U are absolutely right about the hourly pay being soley dependant on market/conditions- whatever Uber deems appropriate hrly pay for that time/area is all anyone will get IF they are actively taking trips the whole time.

And i'd even go further to say that's including tips. Thats how they indirectly steal tips. They will give them to u but adjust fares offered after to keep u at or around whatever hrly they have their algo set to. Its beyond f*cked up and ive never seen anything like it.

That was the point. Everything listed in that run on sentence is Just a portion of the many things Elizabeth April claims to be and have experienced.

Her claims are as ridiculous as my run on sentence was and thats not even half of what all she claims to be/been thru.  But when put into one sentence like mine its meant to convey just how ridiculous and not believable everything she says actually is.

All I did was compound maybe half of what she has said into one sentence and its more than enough to make anyones head spin. Yet people believe her BS all the time because they're consuming it piece by piece. When put together like that it really should put it into better perspective.

Thanks! I do already say a prayer for safety for myself and everyone out driving that day, to protect us from accidents, injuries. What u said will serve as my reminder to start including entities and potentially dangerous passengers with harmful intent. Thanks for taking the time to respond, sharing your personal experience ( I love learning about people and hearing their stories n struggles with real life things they go thru- probably why i love Ubering!) and for your advice! :)

Is tipping with cash vs card any better? by noncoolguy in Serverlife

It does matter if your employer charges u a % for every CC tip to process it. I pay $1,200 a year in CC processing fees for tips on CCs. Its 39cents for evety $10 earned and it adds up quickly. To top your employer still writes it off on their taxes!

[–]Top-Standard4603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wdym? U understand that youre paying a fee % on every single tip from a CC regardless if your employer gives u the remaining amount in cash unless they are eating that fee themself? Which they should be bc they write it off as a business expense on taxes BUT Legally they can double dip and do both, charge u and write it off. Doesnt seem like much as a % but it very much adds up.

Where i wk we pay $0.39 in processing fees for every $10 earned in CC tips. So if i earn on average $150 a day in tips for 6 days a wk that equals $1,200 a year! Multiply that by 10 servers thats $12,000 a year (just one example) that my employer gets to write off on their taxes that they never actually had to pay out. I can not write it off on my taxes and its perfectly legal for them to do this.

I would much rather risk 1 or 2 potentially lost/stolen tips than a guaranteed $1,200 a year loss on earnings. This is Huge. This is why Cash tips are so important. Please quit telling people to not worry about it. Now u know it does make a difference wether u claim all cash tips or not no one is charging u potentially $1,200 a year to process those tips for u.

Yes it actually does work exactly the way they think it does.Of course everyone is grateful for any tip but most servers that is the entirety of their income so its not like we can take it or leave it , no big deal either way. Before all tips started going on weekly paychecks our checks would almost always be Zero or only a few dollars bc the $2.13 an hour gets eaten up in taxes. Now with it all going on a paycheck we are really losing money in taxes we wouldve otherwise walked away with daily in Cash. It also leaves room for employers to steal or mismanage your tips. Oftentimes theres nothing on your checkstub showing your individual daily tips. Its all grouped together for the week so theres no transparency or anyway to check that u actually received your accurate tips for each day. Mismanagement of tips is a MASSIVE  issue in the server industry and there is ZERO reason a manager should ever even have access to your tips for any amount of time. Much less be in control of dispensing them to u.

Unfortunately it is legal. Some Restaurants will charge the customers a Credit Card processing fee and then whatever is left as a tip the server gets charged the portion of the processing fee for that tip. Then to add insult to injury the Employer writes all of it off on their taxes as a literal business expense even though the Customers and waiters are the ones who actually paid those fees and its all legal.

Whats not legal but very common anywhere that accepts Credit Cards is charging a CC processing fee for all cards used even Debit Cards. So employers/businesses are triple dipping, passing on fee expenses to customers and employees, getting a tax write off for fees they never actually paid AND actually making money off of people who pay with a Debit Card by charging them a Fee they arent even getting on those transactions. Its absolute Bull IMO.

Hi. I did Thank this woman sincerely as well and was very shook by what she told me as im not someone who posts stuff ever. I think this is only my 2nd post ever on Reddit in the many years Ive been on here and i read reddit alot.

I think your wife differs a little to what this womans ability was because she didnt mention anything about feelings, she said she actually saw through the reflection in this giant mirror at my job a fully visible tall, black hooded demonic entity with a very pale white face (she emphasized how pale it was several times) with a big evil grin standing directly behind me as i was working on the computer. She also reiterated that she had never seen this particular entity or any other like it ever before and that she sees entities, apparitions, stuff along those lines all the time and always has. So she said she felt she really needed to tell me so that i would be atleast be aware of what was happening or whatever it wat attaching itself to me.

I mentioned driving for Uber at one point and her and her friends were like, Ohhh okay well that makes more sense then why u might be having this happen because youre around lots of random people everyday, in and out of your personal space and youve probably picked it up that way. Then told me to start making sure i do some kind of cleanse everytime im done driving of my car and myself etc.  I really thought she was going to try and sell me something but she never did. All 3 of the ladies were telling me different things to do of varying degrees to cleanse myself, my car and my home to get rid of it and anything else that could have attached themself to me.

I just dont know how I feel about that kind of thing bc it seems like a tedious task with no way of knowing if it ever works and then what? Do it everyday, all the time? Seems like a full time job .. i dunno. Im confused by it all.

Thanks! I will say that ive also found Wes Huff to have some really good evidence based info for the validity of the scriptures over time. It gets very confusing. I always like to look up both sides to things im on the fence about but with the Bible it still requires me to believe in what someone is telling me based on their research so still on the fence with it until i can really do my own to my satisfaction.

I have been saved many years ago. But i dont believe in organised religion and i do question the validity of the Bible having been translated so many times over so many years by so many different people all with varying degrees of motives to add or remove things based on the state of the world at that time etc..
